I was looking at taking 31 things class. If you've taken it, how was it? Did it help you tell good stories? layout designs? I also see there's a 31 more things. However, I don't see a sign up for the just released 31 more things. Any information would be great. Thanks!!
Update - I signed up last week. I'm so glad I did. I have already done the first two days (just the writing part, not the layout) and I have two stories to document. I haven't decided if I'll do a dedicated album yet or incorporate the layouts into my regular albums.

I don't think you can sign up for 31 More Things now as it is currently in process. It started Sept. 1 and runs for the month.
I purchased a bundle of both 31 classes about 6 weeks ago. I got immediate access to the original class. As with all of Ali's classes, it is packed with content. There is a welcome video, layered templates, journaling templates, title strip printables, digital word art and an album label. Then there are 31 prompts for story telling. Each is accompanied by words, phrases and questions to help you tell the story in depth and photo ideas. Ali shares her layout for each prompt.
The layouts Ali designed are very simple - one photo, the words, very few embellishments. Of course, you could do it any way you want.
Ali's classes force me to examine myself and my life. When I looked at the prompts, one stood out to me and not in a good way. I thought I have nothing to say on that prompt. But I made myself sit down and think about it. I ended up writing two full pages on the topic. The words just poured out. Who knew I had that in me?!!!
Am I keeping up with every day? No. I write when I have time. Sometimes I need to read the prompts and let them swirl around in my head before committing to paper. I've done about 8 of the original class and haven't started on 31 More Things yet.

I took the 31 Things class when it was first offered back in June 2012. I really liked it, it's more of an emphasis on writing and storytelling versus building layouts. I actually used the super simple digital layout provided in the class to make 12x12 pages then had them printed for an album.
I am now taking 31 More Things, which is just another set of 31 prompts for writing. I haven't gotten into producing any layouts yet. My approach (both times) has been just to write as much as I can regarding the topics, then go back and edit/add to writing. I will worry about the end product when I'm done writing. I don't really put an emphasis on photos with this class.
But you can definitely keep up with the prompts daily (I think I was better at that the first time around) and take a photo to go with it, etc. There are digital brushes and templates designed for the class, or you can easily do it traditional as well.
I like the prompts and the stories that they bring out to tell and record. Its almost more of a self discovery sort of class?
I actually did a quick update page to the original 31 Things class in 2013, where I just typed out the prompts and added a few thoughts of what those words meant for me at the moment. I like the idea of having these returning themes and ideas to show different aspects of life through journaling.
The content is always rich with Ali's classes, so you can't go wrong there. I prefer the classes with a bit more freedom to sort of do with it what you want versus following a kit.

I am currently working my way through 31 More Things and am really enjoying it. Journaling is my downfall in scrapbooking. I find it is always very boring with the basic Who, What, Where, When facts - which are important, but I find my pages lacking 'story'. I've liked all of the prompts, even ones I didn't really think I would like, or have anything to say about. After reading her examples and her tips I've found I've come up with many different things I could write about. She just has a way of making you find the stories! I would definitely recommend the class, especially if you want to work on your journaling (and even if you don't I think it would still be worth it!) The class doesn't really focus on layout design. Her design is very basic for her album (just a 4x6, and block of journaling for each topic), which I will be following to create my album as well, but I am finding the prompts have sparked other stories as well, which I plan on using on other layouts. Like most people say, you really can't beat the content she provides. I definitely plan on taking the original 31 Things once I am finished with these prompts.
