I have been stuck in a low rise, small private building, elevator with a high strung, animated colleague. It was only 45 minutes , thank goodness, in a very small space.
He was trying to plot mission possible like escapes, even though building engineers and our colleagues were aware we were trapped. I can only imagine the "in case we don't make it" video I would have endured if our phones had ability.

It would depend entirely on whether I had my yarn bag with me or not.

I was actually stuck in a lift with 5 other people a couple of weeks ago. We were there for 55 minutes. It wasn't fun. It was in the new health centre/community building that just opened in our town a month ago. The lifts have broken down every single day so far. The doctors' surgeries are all on the second and third floors, and there are three dental surgeries on the fourth floor. There are only two public lifts, and one staff lift. It is crazy; there are lots of elderly and infirm people who are unable to manage the stairs (105 of them to the fourth floor!), so they have to use the lifts. And then they get stuck. Meanwhile the library staff, municipal bank and housing staff sit smugly on the ground floor. I don't know why they weren't installed on the top floors and the medical staff on the lower floors. Only the Community Psych Teams, Treatment Room/Phlebotomy and Admin offices are on the first floor - they could be higher too. I'll get off my soapbox now.

I work for an elevator company. PSA Please do not try and remove yourself from an elevator if the doors are slighly open and the car it is not landed properly. If you are in the door way and the car starts moving you will most likely not survive. Hopefully a technician will arrive soon to release you. Although you have a choice to have the fire department remove you, please remember they are not trained mechanics. Also the escape hatch is locked from the top of the car. When I was in residence, a number of (drunk) students were playing 'molecules' in the elevator and it stopped between floors. They pried the doors open. They were stuck between floors and one guy rolled out the bottom, rather than climbing up, and promptly fell down the shaft.
Yeah, not a fan of elevators.

I really don't think about it. If I had a bad experience though, I would every single time.

I've been stuck in two elevators, both for only 10 min tops. Neither were terrifying and I am not afraid of elevators now or before. Both were super old elevators in old buildings.

Hasn't really crossed my mind actually. But yeah, I don't think I'd be too happy about it.
I am terrified of falling through one of those grates on a road or sidewalk. That totally freaks me out.

I've only been stuck once, years ago, in a freight elevator. I was at work and my journeyman sent me down two floors to bring up some angle iron. The freight elevator was the only option. It moved halfway between the second and third floors and stopped. The horrible part was it was just before lunch on the last day of work before Christmas break. I was frightened that I was going to spend my Christmas break stuck in this stupid elevator in the middle of an industrial plant. I finally pried the stupid doors open and started screaming. After about 30 minutes of yelling and banging on the walls with the angle iron my journeyman and the other apprentice finally heard me. They thought I had decided to quit early for lunch and were just leaving for lunch themselves. They managed to pry the door open far enough to pull me through and they did. They each grabbed an arm and on the count of three they jerked me out of there. My fear was getting squished by the elevator if it suddenly decided to work that's why they jerked me out. I never did ride in that elevator again without thinking of that stupid incident.

I was once stuck in an elevator with about 20 other people for 3 hours at the CN Tower in Toronto. I can't remember the exact year - I think it was in the early 90's. Maintenance was able to speak to us at first but we eventually lost communication. One woman was freaking out but everyone else stayed pretty calm, and fortunately the elevator had a glass front so it wasn't as claustrophobic as it might have been. They ended up stopping the adjacent elevator parallel to ours and we climbed up a ladder, walked across the elevator shaft (they had put some type of material for us to walk on and maintenance workers were holding our hands at all times), then we climbed down another ladder into the functioning elevator. I was pretty calm while all this was going on, but I definitely had nightmares that night and haven't been much of an elevator fan since. I did finally make it to the top of the Tower on a later visit to Toronto - not my idea but my traveling companion really wanted to go so I agreed! How did they manage 20.people in there! The lifts are so small! I think there were 7 or 8 of us and it was cozy.

I got stuck in the elevator in my office building once. I was in there about 45 minutes. I pressed the call button and someone came for me. Good thing it worked because no one noticed I was even gone.

I don't think I've ever really thought about getting stuck in an elevator before. I'm quite surprised with how many people have experienced being stuck. I may start worrying about it now...
