Sooo many sparkly squirrels in my world!!!
Right now I take a small dose of Adderall. Sometimes it seems to help, sometimes it makes the squirrels sparklier. I have an apt with a dr next week to discuss trying different meds, so am interested in hearing others' experiences.
Thanks!

I've been on Concerta for 13 years now. It's great for me, but tends to run out around dinner/early evening. Wish it lasted longer.

My family member takes a regular Ritalin booster on days longer time is needed after Concerta wears off. OP your sparkly squirrel comment made me smile. I don't have ADD but am surrounded by a few with it. I might lovingly think of them as my own Sparkle Squirrels now. I swear I would have caught it from them if it was possible.

Thank you for this!!! I have an appointment next week. I have been living with too many squirrels and need to get rid of them. I have a paid job and non profit job that need 100% attention. I feel it is time for help.

My son (26 years old) takes Vyvanse. It's been a great med for him. He recently graduated college with a 3.8 average. My husband takes Concerta, and has for several years. Getting diagnosed as an adult and taking meds was life changing for him. I'm the only one in this household without ADD. It gets kind of crazy sometimes, but I remind myself it's the ADD talking, not them when their meds wear off. Debbie in MD.

I take coconut oil when I start to feel overwhelmed with all the awareness.

I had a big project I was working on yesterday so took a 2nd dose around 2 (usually I just take one in the morning, but the dr has said I can have another if I feel like I need it). I was totally zoned in and able to finish my project with no problems - and then proceeded to stare at the walls until 5 this morning. Ok, no more afternoon doses for me. Ugh.

Thank you everyone for these suggestions & for sharing your experiences. It gives me hope!! I admire you for addressing it. As a spouse I see the difference it makes, but also that DH confronted a long term issue and that was tough!!!! I hear from friends that many are not willing to do this. We all need a little support and it comes in many forms. Have hope and hang in there.

I am on ritalin 20 mg 3 times a day. I have been on one form or another of add meds since I was 9. I work at a tattoo shop and go to school, no way I could this without my desparkling pills.

Not me personally, but the physician I work for prescribes Vyvanse a lot. Adults seem to do well with it as far as the ones I've spoken with goes.

In our house, we need a neurepinepherine reuptake inhibitor as well as a stimulant. Straterra is awesome, but it's $$.
Adderral and Vyvanse are great stims. Vyvanse is an appetite suppressant and does tend to cause irritability.

I'm interested to hear what everyone's symptoms are. I suspect I have this, but not sure and would like to hear your experiences.

I take 30mg Ritalin extended release every day, with a 10mg booster for the afternoons. This medicine has saved my marriage and my career. I always thought my challenged were from depression, but after years of medication and therapy for that, a lot of things became clear. When I went through the ADD testing, it was such a relief to finally find what was really wrong. Life is so much better now.

Both my ADHD's are on Vynase. It made a ginormous difference in DD so DH asked for it as well. They both tolerate it so much better than the Concerta/Adderall. And a little funny for you from the people at failbook.

I'm interested to hear what everyone's symptoms are. I suspect I have this, but not sure and would like to hear your experiences. Leslie In school I was aware of all the activity around me. I could hear everyone's conversations, notice every movement, every clink of binders and crackling of papers, and it would distract me from listening to the instruction. Instructions usually bore me and I was more focused on the way the teacher speaks and her reactions. And I would tune out and day dream a lot ( probably to subconsciously escape all that commotion ) I would get cabin fever if I stayed in a place too long and look for rejuvenation. My awareness is so magnified and tuned in that I can recognize patterns in the way people are, the moves they are going to make while driving, how they are going to act when they approach me. I can notice what's going to happen without it happening at that moment. Not all this may be from ADD ( I have to add that I don't believe in that anymore so no one mistakes me for how I feel about it ) I have other things that would probably be labeled by a dr. If I was diagnosed and they would probably consider me with being on the spectrum, OCD and a special type of Dislexia. But all my symptoms are blended together so I don't know which is which but it doesn't concern me cause I believe I'm just highly empathic , have abstract thinking, and a heightened awareness. And what I used to see as disorders that I took meds for, I now see as gifts that I use for healing benefits
