My DS's girlfriend told me tonight that she loves coming to our house, because she always learns something new! I was talking about a workshop I attended this week on how to make felt, and GF was fascinated by it. Last time she was here, DS and I were discussing the Dambusters, and how they dropped bouncing bombs. She had never heard of this, and asked us loads of questions!

I made my husband's day when I brought him his favorite meal for lunch. Just the surprise in his voice when I called let him know it was coming made {my} day!

Talking to an old friend I hadn't heard from for at least ten years. She ran into my brother and asked for my phone number. It was great chatting with her.

That Kleenex video thanking the NICU nurse. Every child she had ever cared for flooded in the room as she was watching the video of them thanking here. Seriously cried happy tears!

DD came home from college (only 45 minutes away) to spend time with me. She shared photos and videos of her friends with me. And she brought me lunch!
DS and I went out driving while DD had a babysitting job for one of her old high school teachers. DS has drivers permit so we got drive time in and ran some errands and checked out a lot of the new Star Wars stuff, talked and laughed a bunch.
Another perfect weather day here. Too bad too many months of winter follows. I wish it could stay Indian summer/fall MUCH longer.

My ds's former therapist making special arrangements to observe him during therapy (she's in a new position at the same place). He was so happy! I promise I am not making this one up! I was at a traffic light waiting to turn left. To the right of me was a Coke truck. Directly in front of me was a Pepsi truck. When the light turned green The Pepsi driver started laughing, rolled down his window and tried to hand a Pepsi to the Coke driver as he went by. It was like I was watching one of those commercials they did in the 90's or early 2000's.

My daughter made and shared some delicious muffins! We lit a "fall-scented" candle. DH fixed the oven without too many curse words. I think I'm going to be able to nap this afternoon. Getting one of our vehicles repaired wasn't too terribly expensive.

My son told me that he polled his friends and that it turns out all of his friend's moms yell at them. He was shocked to find out that in most cases the dads yelled worse than the moms. He said he now feels badly that he told his therapist I yell at him but that his dad doesn't. He now realizes it's his aspy dad that is unusual, not me. Apparently when he said it to the therapist, the therapist suggested he ask his friends about it.
My friend took me out to lunch yesterday just because she had been thinking of me.

I hope this new understanding helps you both moving forward.

We arranged a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan, the cancer support charity, for today. DH started the fundraising at his office yesterday as we were doing it in honour of a colleague of theirs who is very, very poorly & they were very generous. Today 31!!!! friends turned up, helped us eat the mountain of cakes I've been baking all week & together we raised £350 (over $530 according to my calculations). Even better, most of that money has been "gift aided" which means the charity can claim back the tax paid so it will go up another 25%. The sun shone, we had people all over the garden & all over the house & everybody had a great time. We are tired, but very happy

What made me smile today was seeing my dgc asking another child (about their age) to throw one of the free Frisbee that was given out prior to the parade we attended today. Seeing the two kids playing Frisbee in the middle of an empty street, not even knowing their name's let me realise that kids today can have fun without a lot of structure. It made me smile, really big smile.
The mom of the other child did acknowledge, with a nod of her head and also with a big smile, that this was okay! No helicopter parenting on either side. When the parade began, they both went to their respective seats on the sidewalk.
