We do not have a DVR. I tend to watch shows I like in their entirety after the season is over. And the thought of one more piece of technology in my life just overwhelms me.
But then I read on hear about everyone using theirs and I wonder if I'm missing out on a good thing.
So tell me, do you have a DVR? Is it worth the extra monthly charge? Or am I not alone in living in the past and only watching shows in real time until they show up on Netflix?

Actually, I just got rid of my DVR. It has taken a little bit of effort to get used to it, but I still have access to the OnDemand Channel and am able to still watch all the shows that I enjoy. I got rid of it because not having it put me in a different package category and my bill went down something like $30/month. I am cheap and if I am going to watch later, I don't really care if it is on OnDemand or DVR'd.
I liked having it, but I don't seem to be having a struggle getting used to not having it.
But if I didn't have access to the shows on OnDemand, I might have a different answer.

I don't have a dvr.
I watch any shows I have missed on-demand. And if I can't see it there, no biggie.

We have a DVR but it doesn't add to our package rate here in Canada. The monthly rate is the same with or without it.
We also have an android box which I adore! I seriously love this little box of joy! I can watch shows from all over the world, live sports, and movies galore. It's amazing.
We only keep the basic satellite package for our local news to be honest. The android does the work of everything else and no monthly fee.

We don't have a DVR either. (we also don't have a dishwasher...lol) We watch Netflix, or on-demand, or online at the network site (like CBS for instance, I can watch "Survivor" the next day.)

It's a box you attach to your tv or computer to stream shows. You can stream live TV or recorded. IT's fabulous. We have the ON D box (google stream-team.ca) and it's the best one on the market IMO. We had two before we bought this one and it's amazing. You can move it from TV to TV too.

I'm fine with it, in fact there's still so much too watch and not enough time. Edited because I can't read, but we do have broadcast tv.

My sister doesn't. It's weird to hear her say, well I have to get home my show is going to start. . I don't watch much tv maybe 2 hours a week so i would never get to watch the few shows I record if I didn't have dvr.

No DVR here because we don't have a single television channel coming into our home, so there is nothing to record or watch later.

No DVR for us. In the last several years, our TV watching habits have been completely changed by On Demand, Amazon Prime, and services like Netflix. All of these allow us to watch about everything we want, when we want. About the only thing we sit down to watch at a specific day and time is college football.

I didn't have a DVR until 2 months ago and I only got it then when it came free for a year with our cable package. I always thought they were ridiculous and would never use it. Welp. I love that little box and it totally changes my tv watching, which isn't a lot. I could go back to no box but will admit that I love being able to have recorded the shows I like and watch them late at night when I am awake alone, nobody to talk through my movies and cause me to miss parts AND I love being able to fast forward through commercials and anything else I don't like. I also really enjoy the freedom it allows me to not be chained to the tv at a certain time nor have family members flipping back and forth between channels. Loving my DVR and may consider keeping it when the freebie expires and it costs $10 a month.

We don't have cable and therefore don't have a DVR. After almost 3 years cable free we don't miss it.

We don't have a DVR....we do have OnDemand which works fine for us.
The nice thing about a DVR player is that you can FF thru commercials and most shows on OnDemand won't let you do that.

It took me a while to get one and I wasn't sure I would like it. Now, I don't think I would ever want to be without it. It has totally changed my TV watching. I don't feel like I am chained to the TV. I can watch whenever I feel like it. As crazy as it sounds, I feel like I use my TV time more wisely now because I am only watching what I really want to watch and not something just because it is the only thing on.

I didn't have a DVR until recently. I thought they were basically a bit silly and for people who were bound to their TV. I was wrong. Since getting the DVR I actually watch less TV - but more of what I want to see -- and all without advertisements. And - if I just want to "test" a show - it is easily recorded and continued or dumped as needed without interference with anything else. I have been impressed and surprised at how freeing and helpful the DVR has been

No DVR here, either. I figure with OnDemand, I can catch up on anything I miss. We also have Amazon Prime & Netflix.
I sometimes wonder if we're missing out, too. Then I remind myself it's just one more expense I really don't need (and like you said, one more piece of technology to confuse me, lol), so I let it go.

I remember I had basic cable a few years ago. No box or on screen guide. I went to basic extended which came with the box that has the on screen guide...well, now I can't give that sucker up! I don't want to be in the same boat with a DVR.

We don't have a DVR or Netflix or Prime and I have really never been interested in any of them. We have cable and on Demand which keeps me entertained. I have maybe two hours of shows a week I try not to miss but other than that I am not a big tv watcher. Dh loves the tv and can always find something to keep himself entertained with the channels we have.
It works well for us - I don't sit still long enough to watch more than a half hour at a time (Midsomer Murders almost does me in - 45 minutes with no commercials!) so I get my fix and then dh flips the channels the rest of the time.

We do not have one. We only watch a handful of shows, and usually catch them live. If we can't catch them live, they're almost always up On Demand a day or two later. No biggie. I do not think I am missing out on anything.

Netflix and other wifi options are not possible ( affordable) fr me. my niece recently was complaining that she just received a notice that should reached her 350 GB Max for the month. I had no sympathy. I get a total of 15 GB and that serves two phones and my Internet. So yes, I finally have DVR and love the fact that I can record things to watch sometime in the future.

I don't have a DVR. I don't have cable either. Just over the regular old antenna TV. Never had either, so don't miss them. To get cable when we first looked into it, we would have had to pay for cable from road to house. Yeah, that's 1/4 to 1/2 mile of cable. Not gonna happen. Then as time went on, never felt the need.
Now kids watch little TV and watch most things online. We are good with just TV and Netflix. Oh, and Amazon Prime instant videos that comes with the free shipping.

I can't do Netflix or any streaming video due to a data cap of 10GB/month. I think most people would croak if they had to deal with that! LOL I hate it

We own a dvr. There is no monthly charge for the DVR. I record the shows I like and watch them at my convenience . I too like to watch several episodes at once.
I would not watch tv at all if I didn't have some way to do it on my time and fast-forward thru commercials.

We've never had any kind of cable-type service in our 15 years of marriage. We decided we wanted our money and time to go towards other things. We do occasionally watch TV, and we like to binge-watch shows on Netfix orAmazon together. But overall, we don't feel miss much. Our kids are still young, and watch PBS if they watch anything, and I can't tell you how grateful I am that they're a "product-free, food-free" commercial station!! We don't hear them give an I-want-this-and-this list very often.
