Last night I ordered something. Shipping was $4.95 and would be here Monday or Tuesday. For a $2 discount On shipping I could get it by Oct 5th. I clicked on the $2.95 option. The total was $8 something which was what I was expecting.
This morning I got a notice it was shipped and was expected Oct 23 - Nov 10!
I checked my email and it said the same thing, but the shipping was $3.05 and the total was still $8 something.
I figured I would put it in my cart again and get a screen shot, but the shipping and pricing is the same as my email with no other option. I look through my history and same thing.
I feel like I am going a little insane here. Normally I would say I wasn't observant enough, but I spent some time debating on going with the $2.95 or the $4.95 option because I didn't want to wait too long, but I liked the idea of saving.
Has this happened to you?

I have gotten a message that i could pay $10 extra for expedited shipping, but declined. They then held it for a week and shipped it and it arrived the same day. Coincidentally that was a totally messed up order where they shipped the wrong computer and dh didn't realize it until he went to upgrade the memory and something looked wrong. It would have sucked if he had waited longer to upgrade, since the computer they shipped wad the one that was $200 cheaper. I got it all sorted out but everything that could have caused a delay on that order did happen. I think it was a month after ordering before the new computer was up and running

Yes, I swear the same thing happened to me! I'm 100% positive I wasn't wrong about the expected ship dates, as it was a gift and I was shopping with shipping dates and arrival times in mind, and I wouldn't have bought something that said it was going to arrive a month after when I needed it.

Yes, I've had that happen. Fortunately I didn't need it in a hurry but it was pretty annoying.

Something similar has happened to me before. I didn't choose the cheaper shipping option, I just went with my 2 day Prime and saw a delivery date of 2 days in the future. When the email arrived the delivery date had changed and it was a week away. That didn't work for me as I needed the item ASAP. I wound up going around with three different customer service reps to get it taken care of. In the end they cancelled my original order, had me re-order it with 1 day shipping and credited me the amount for the original order and one day shipping. If the item was available for one day shipping there's no reason it shouldn't have been for my initial order with two day shipping. Makes no sense!

Amazon used to be a lot faster until they started "selling" fast shipping with their membership. Zappos -- now that is a great company -- free shipping both directions, order before 1 and I get my package the next day.

Has this happened to you? When we have received expected dates like this, the item is always shipping from China, and always show up much earlier than the expected dates. I wouldn't be surprised if you get the item by Oct 5th. I assume they are giving the worst possible dates in case the item gets bumped or held up somewhere in transit.

I have two items that aren't due until nov 4th but it was clearly marked and disclosed before I purchased and in my confirmation email thst came when I placed the order. I would be rely ticked if something was prime or even supposed to be here in s week and then changed to 6 weeks.

But amazon does own zappos. I never realized or noticed it until I ordered a pair of shoes from amazon (size was sold out on zappos?) and it arrived with the same type of packing slip (amazon logo, amazon box)... Looked closer and it was the same return address. Apparently they operate independently but were bought a number of years ago when I googled it.

I was thinking that Amazon and Zappos had some connection --- and that just makes Amazon's shipping polices even worse! I guess they are so ubiquitous it just doesn't matter what they do ... or don't do!

Yes I have. I find it annoying. I even made sure I was purchasing from Amazon and not another vendor.
