I really have to start putting on my reading glasses before I log on here. Just the other day I thought that someone had posted about a stud in the elevator (was actually stuck) and was curious to see if they had run into someone famous, and then today I saw a thread about random barking (was about baking), and as a dog owner opened it to see if I could offer any advice. Getting old sucks, darn it!

I agree. There is nothing like being far-sighted and near-sighted all at the same time.

I'm not sure whether to blame my eyes or my brain when that happens.

heartcat, I totally understand. Because I mostly use my phone to read and post, the typos that get past me are awful. If I'd put on my glasses, I could see my mistakes.

I'm not sure whether to blame my eyes or my brain when that happens. It is my brain, I cannot even read the screen right or wrong if I don't have my glasses on. I read the thread titles incorrect all the time. Sometimes I wonder if it is a Freudian thing.

I agree. There is nothing like being far-sighted and near-sighted all at the same time. This! Totally this! It's like you are screwed both ways. I used to just wear regular contacts and reading glasses on top of them, but got really tired of taking them off and on, and where the heck were they when you needed them! Finally my eye doctor suggested bifocal contact lenses and now they even come in daily wear versions. Yipee! The best of both worlds. Love them! Debbie in MD.

The other day I was watching a couple walking towards me with their dog off leash in front of them. As we got closer, I could see that the dog had seriously fallen behind. I about peed myself when I realized the dog they were walking was a fire hydrant. I should have been wearing my contacts.

I agree. There is nothing like being far-sighted and near-sighted all at the same time. Way back in high school, my anatomy and physiology teacher swore that we get more far sighted as we age, so all of us who were near sighted would end up with much better vision as we aged. Liar, liar, pants on fire. And that he told us that demonstrates exactly how deficient he was as a teacher. Nearsightedness has to do with the shape of the eye. Needing reading glasses as we age has to do with our irises getting stiffer and less able to retract to focus.THAT doesn't fix the wonky shape of my eye. I am so glad that I ignored his stuoidity and had Lasix!

My eyes got progressively worse from when I got glasses in 4th grade until I was about 23. Then they stabilized at 11 in left eye 12 in right eye for contacts. ( gas permeable because they didn't make soft lenses for that back then ) fast forward to when I turned 40 and my eyes got better each year until I stabilized again at an 8 and a 9.25. Still blind lol but less so. Ha ha now I need bifocals too and I'm still 8 and 9 but with bifocals

I can see anything that's about 2 feet and beyond just fine. My arms just aren't long enough any more.

I finally broke down and wore my reading glasses in public a few weeks ago. the world didn't end and no one made fun of me. I fact someone even told me my glasses were cute. My husband likes them too. He's a total romantic and loves the thought of us growing old together, so anytime I display signs of getting older (more gray, reading glasses) he gets all soppy and sentimental.

I am so disappointed there is no stud in an elevator thread to go look for.
