This is more of an anti-vent. Because today was good (for once)! It really started yesterday with both of my DD's being invited for sleepovers. So I had all of Friday night to myself! And I took FULL advantage of the situation and crawled into be with a good book at 7 pm I woke up at 11 pm, ate a banana, and went back to sleep and didn't wake up till 9.30 this morning! So this has been a GOOD day, where I have actually been well-rested and felt alert all day. Usually I start yawning a few hours after waking up, but not today! It's been bliss. I should go to bed at 7 pm more often How about you? What has made you feel good today?

Today has been great, so far! DH went to a church breakfast event with my dad this morning. After he got home, we went to see the Intern, which was a great movie, then to lunch at a Tex-Mex place that just hit the spot. The weather has been perfect for riding around in the Jeep with the top off. All in all, it's just been a fun day.

I walked a 10k with my mom, two sisters, a BIL, and a nephew this morning. Well, them and 12,000 other people. Most of those were doing the 5k, so it was nice to not have as crowded of a route. With this race 10k gets a medal even if you walk it, so I have my very first race medal, which totally cracks me up. Then I came home to a clean house and got to take a nap. It was lovely. Tonight I get a date with my sweetie.

I just watched the first of the two performances today and the band rocked it. I mean, they rocked it. They were louder than the previous bands. They had a show, not just showing off marching skills. While I think part of it is because we had a great turnout of band parents, the band got some of the loudest cheers, even a standing ovation. I spent most of elementary and middle school worried that my oldest wouldn't find something to be a part of, something to get involved with and today, I watched him interact with bandmates, follow directions, and perform so well. I was grinning while I had tears. You have to understand that he's ADHD and most likely on the spectrum because sometimes, it goes beyond ADHD. To see him be a part of the marching band just makes me proud. Not to mention he looks sharp in that uniform!
We're about to head out for the second performance and this one is rated. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do in their class.

I have written about my sweet DDPhoebe and her current hospitalization and illness and gotten so much support from the peas.
Today was the first day in literally a month that my daughter actually made a joke and was sassy and sarcastic. It was only for about 5 minutes but that 5 minutes was the. Best of my day. I saw a glimpse of my girl again, and even though things are so serious and difficult right now, for those moments we were a family (me, my husband, my son, and Phoebe were altogether today) laughing again.

I ran to a friends house, we took a walk, and I ran home. We met up again later and went shopping. She lives about 2.5 miles from me, but we are both so busy we really only see each every 4-5 months. Every time we see each other we pick up where we left off. She's such a breath of fresh air that I'm always happy after seeing her.

I saw War Room with my gf on Thursday and took my kids to see it tonight. I am so happy to see ds17 really has a strong dislike for bad behavior. This is the second time I've seen him respond like this but he told me afterwards that he had some choice thoughts for one particular character - "big words, mom. I know it's bad but I couldn't help it."
it was a win-win. He recognized how we ought not to treat people and also realized his response, while I did tell him he was probably accurate, he knew those aren't words he should be using. Added bonus, he thought I would be mad at him for thinking it, he told me anyway and I congratulated him instead of scolding.

DS had all day band practice so on those days, DH and I like to drive into San Diego (we live about an hour north) for some early morning hiking/geocaching. Afterwards, we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for some food/drinks and to watch my baseball team win!
DH said the last time we did that that he really liked that date (we had been in date rut lately) so that was good to hear. I hope we can continue to do these things at least 2 times/month.

It has been true Spring weather here the past few days and I am loving it. 25 glorious degrees (about 77 I think for you guys) so we cleaned up all our patio area (which has been a bit neglected over winter) so we can sit outdoors and have meals or read etc. Dh mowed the lawns and weeded, I cleaned all the outdoor furniture and washed the covers of the daybed. All ready for the next few months of constant use
I spend hours on the daybed reading on the weekends
Getting it all ready for use makes me happy!

AllieC I'm jealous My happy moment yesterday was going to my friend's 50th birthday party/dinner. She looked amazing, the food was lovely but best of all was that she counted us among her special friends to share the evening with

Lying in the spring sun with my husband, listening to a Polish Blues concert at the embassy open day.
I didn't even know there was such a thing as Polish Blues - they were very good!

My dd turned 16 last Sunday but didn't celebrate with her friends until last night. I drove 6 of them to the International Buffet about 45 minutes away. So I got to listen to them chattering there and back. They were talking about boys, university, and more boys. It was definitely entertaining. Then because the restaurant is surround by a mall that closes at 6:00 on Saturday I got to sit in the car and read for two hours straight while waiting for them. Pure bliss.

Because I live alone and don't work anymore, my children and I have started a morning text, to let them know I'm ok and if I have any special plans, and just to say I love you to them. Hearing back from them starts my day off on a happy note and reminds me what treasures they are.
