I don't know why I always struggle with what to pair with my navy dress pants.
I know crisp white looks great, but white is not a good color for me for tops. It makes me look too washed out. I know lots of colors like yellow, orange, bright pink look nice with navy. However, I don't find nice tops in those colors (probably because I also don't feel these colors are flattering on me).
I seem to only have a handful of tops that I always gravitate towards with my navy pants. Usually burgundy & red, sometimes plum. I don't even have much gray or tan/beige to throw into the mix. I see navy pants paired with black tops on-line, but when I try it, it doesn't look right to me.
Also, I ended up buying a pair of pin-striped pants that are almost like a stretchy denim. The pin stripes are really tripping me up with coordinating these with a nice top. I couldn't resist buying them because they are comfy & fit me really nicely.
Blazers/suit jackets are out because they are too dressy for my work place.
So, what do you wear with navy dress pants?

I have a teal shirt that looks great with navy, and I also have a off-white shirt that has a floral pattern with birds in it, in navy/yellow/orange.
For the pinstripes, I'd consider them "neutral" and wear whatever shirts match the colour/style of the pants -- and probably avoid any top with stripes in it.

I might wear taupe/beige/coffee, orange, duck egg blue, apricot/peach, cream, grey, teal..........lots of options! Can you take them with you when you go out and buy one or two specifically to go with these trousers?

Black, white, gray, coral, teal, yellow, kelly green, etc.
Treat it as a denim! It's a neutral

Any color, as navy is a neutral.

Depending on the shades, I really like navy & cream, navy & burgundy, or for a fun, classic look, navy & a true red (with no orange undertones).

I usually wear coral with navy, sometimes jelly green or emerald green.
I love navy and yellow but yellow looks bad on me.

Coral, orange, yellow, green, silvery grey, white, red or a any of those colours with a white stripe. I don't think navy and black look good together.

Navy is a great neutral color. I like it with off-white or ecru, reds, and greens, especially olive or sage green.

I love coral & navy and it also works great with multi-colored patterned tops.

Navy is a neutral so pick a color that looks good on you. Boom! Problem solved.

Navy is big this year and I LOVE it! It is a neutral in my closet. I will wear navy dress pants, skirts, or tops with any color but black, purple, or pink. I don't like navy and black together, never have. I don't wear much purple or pink, but I can't imagine me wearing the few pieces I do have in these colors with navy. However, I do not have the same constraints when I wear deep blue jeans. Go figure...

I love patterns like checks, florals and stripes with navy. My go-to colours are a mustard yellow, turquoise, lime green, orange, and other blues - cornflower, baby blue or royal blue.

I'm another vote for navy being a neutral. Where whatever color and print you like with it.

I think brown and black are the only two colors I wouldn't wear with navy. My favorite combination is navy and pale pink. My other two favorites are navy and purple, and navy and lime.

I just threw my navy work pants into the donation bin for just this reason. I think it would go well with an orange sweater or a white/black polka dot shirt.

I remember from years ago, my home Ed teacher saying don't ever mix the Bs together. Blue, Black and Brown.
Baby pink is my closet staple and if I wear it with black or navy, I add accessories that combine both colors, usually scarfs or necklaces.

I don't like navy and black as a combination, or navy and brown. I usually go with pink, coral or red, or a patterned top that has different blue tones in it.

Anything you wish except for brown or black seems to work, IMO.

I think with navy you can wear any colour other than black, dark green or dark brown. Everything else works I think so you have lots of options.

I agree - any colour except the ones Allie mentioned above, and no grey either. My very favorite colour to wear with Navy is teal. Followed by pink and coral.
