Does anyone have experience adopting a bottle fed kitten? There is a bottle fed kitten that we are considering adopting, she was found alone at about 2 1/2 weeks of age, so presumably was with her mother before that. Reading online, it sounds like bottle kittens sometimes have behavior problems. Have you found this to be true? Or would having the first couple weeks with her mother help?

I've bottle fed a lot of kittens, from 1 day old at the start to 2 weeks. They end up being the most affectionate cats you can have. They think human=mom, and are just so sweet. One of my neighbors in Charlotte adopted one of the kittens I bottle fed, and he's ridiculous with how sweet he is.

My dd's bottle fed about 4 kittens some yrs ago. Only 2 made it. Its hard. You have to feed them pretty often, like every 2-4 hrs. My girls took turns, and luckily it was summer and they didn't have school. The 2 that made it turned out pretty good. One was an outside cat and was healthy and good, friendly. The other one we took inside, as he was sickly. He was very friendly, loving, about the best cuddler of a cat you could have. He passed away after we had surgery to fix some health problems, and he never came out of the anesthetic. He had a bunch of health problems.

I am looking at a kitten we adopted when she was 3 weeks old, and she is my little sweetie Petey. We didn't have to bottle feed her though, just gave her kmr in a dish. She is a nut, but beautiful and super lovey. I think with kittens it is more about socializing regarding personality. We also have a mama cat and one of her kittens that even though she has been with her momma from birth she is very shy. We weren't able to bring her into the house until the kittens were all weaned and the kitten, although terribly sweet with me, is still very shy and skittish. She will come to me for love and playtime. She will snuggle with me at night, but unless she is in her high perch we can't approach her to pet her without her running. Sometimes she runs just because my husband looks at her.

My Babette (aka Baby) came to me as a three week old foster kitten that had been abandoned ... I bottle fed her and snuggled her and now she is super sweet I will say that she has started peeing on the carpet in one particular place and we haven't figured out why but I'm sure it isn't related to being a bottle fed kitten ... This was her when she was tiny

OMG, these baby pictures are just too adorable! The kitten we are considering is currently in a foster home, which is where she went after being found and it was there that she was bottle fed. She will be old enough for adopting in the next week or 2 and will be available at the shelter we adopted our current boys from. We have been thinking about a couple new additions to the family since we lost our Mulder in March, and when the shelter showed a picture of this little bottle baby with her little milky face on their Facebook page, she kind of caught my eye.

My 'boys' were bottle fed from 1 week because they were found abandoned. We adopted them when they were 9 weeks, and we're eating solid food well by then. They are almost identical twins, and are now 2 1/2. Frankie is the perfect cat-- he likes to be held, and is just a sweet boy. Clarkie is needy! He thinks I'm his mother, and loves me to death! He is attached to my hip all the time! As soon as I sit down, he is on my lap! He can be flighty when others are around! He loves my husband too, but is definitely a mama's boy! I wouldn't trade them for the world!! They have helped us adjust to an empty nest, and helped heal our hearts when we had to put our older kitty down from diabetes complications. We got them shortly after saying goodbye to her, and they've kept us laughing every day!

We bottle fed 5 kittens two summers ago and it is hard work when the mom cat is not around. Luckily it was summer, but the girls had to feed them every 2-3 hours and when we did that we wrapped them in tiny blankets. It was kind of a mess because they all peed/popped on each other until they learned to go in a litter box. They were approximately 10 days old when we got them. At night we put a blanket over the cage we had them in. We only kept 2 and one is super sweet, like a dog really and the other is sweet too but more like a cat. It's a lot of work but they are so cute at that age!

We bottle fed a feral kitten we guessed was 2-3 wells old. We love her but she's definitely a little disturbed.
