For those that live where it gets cold and snowy, what winter boots are you wearing this year?
What about if you wear dress pants, sometimes? I find dress pants look really silly tucked into boots, I feel like a Mountie.
Anyway, I'm going to need something warm soon, as I have Reynaud's in my feet and need to keep them warm.

I'm on my third year with boots from Lands' End. Very warm. I agree with you about feeling like a fool with my work pants tucked in, but it really is the most sensible approach. Otherwise, I end up with damp, salty pantlegs.

I have decided to keep my feet warm and not to care about what they look like with dress pants! So I have Columbia boots for winter sports and North Face boots that look like these ones for daily use: North Face boots. I can wear my pants over them.

Yes when it comes to winter boots, warmth trumps fashion.
I'm surprised I still have 10 toes with all the fashionable-but-not-warm boots I wore in my twenties.
And Mounties are kinda hot!

I'd wear whatever is comfortable and warm and not care what I looked like. I bought a pair of snow boots from Target last year that were awesome. I normally wear Uggs when it's not super snowy and slippery.

I had a pair of Columbia boots for years that looked nice with everything but finally self destructed that I will be replacing this year. I am moving to Orillia (and expecting lots of snow) in a few weeks and with 30 acres of property to explore, traction and warmth are going to be the keys to my happiness . I really need to start shopping! I do have a great pair of hiking boots that work when it's slippery and a pair of Bogs that are very warm but they don't have the greatest traction.

I bought these last year and love them. They are warm, extremely comfortable, and dry out fast. Most importantly they are easy to get on and off (I've always struggled with laces on traditional snow boots - they're a pain to secure, come untied, etc.). www.zappos.com/bogs-classic-high-handles-black-shiney

I'm not ready to talk about it either, but I know snow and ice will soon arrive without my approval! I just moved my plain Jane, yet functional waterproof Totes boots to a front shelf in the closet last night. As I did that, I thought to myself, these are so boring and blah, but I can not seem to wear them out despite years of use. Now however, after seeing the Columbia boots that lily posted, I want those! Dang it all, life is too short to live in boring boots. ?

I have Reynaud's in my hands, so I feel for you.
If I had it bad in my feet, I'd get boots with fleece inside.
I feel your pain. I never had nice boots in Chicago because they always got so nasty.

I have a pair of LL Bean duck boots that are still going strong after 20 years. Those are my winter boots.

I don't live in the cold but I go to Oregon and play in the snow frequently and it gets pretty cold (we have inlaws there) so I finally bought a pair. I bought these Bare Traps and I have to admit they were damn warm and I usually have trouble with my toes freezing so no issues there and they are water resitant so plunging around in the snow didn't alter the material at all, I was highly impressed. As for the Mountie look, just wrap your pant leg (fold it so it goes around your calf) then cuff it so it makes a skinny leg so to speak.

I have a pair of Sorel's that I love. They are a few years old so l am not sure that the style is still available but I would definitely be willing to buy Sorel's again. They are warm, high (topped) and yet still flex able enough for me to be able to drive in. I know that you are not typically driving to work, but having a boot that is not stiff and clunky is important. In my opinion when it comes to winter and warmth, looks and fashion is not even a factor when I make my choices.

I just bought some Sorel's today. They have several choices of great looking boots, but they are more on the casual side in my opinion.

Otherwise, I end up with damp, salty pantlegs. I will second Lands' End heartily! My LE winter boots are easily 15 years old and still going strong. They were a great investment. When you live where it's freezing cold, snowy and wet in the winter, you throw all of that crazy fashion nonsense out the window and go with what keeps you warm and dry!

I have to agree with those saying warmth trumps style. Ugliest pair of "pacs" ever, which I've had since 1989 (?). And, if the wind is blowing, I don't hesitate to pull on my nylon "track pants."

I need new winter chore boots. I have to be able to take them off without using my hands so it's nearly impossible to buy online and not many stores within an hour of me have them.

Oddly enough, I have a pair from Easy Spirit that I have been wearing for the past six years. Although mine are a little taller, this version looks nearly identical to the ones I have. They keep me toasty warm and I can put my dress pants over them.
