This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Welcome to the October thread. I think it smells like pumpkins and bonfires. How I hate to see summer come to an end. I'll be back later to post a layout I finished. I just got a new printer/scanner today and I have to wait for my DD or DSIL to come help me install everything. It's supposed to print wireless, but there's a big fridge/freezer between our wireless router and my scraproom, which messes up the wireless, so it has to be hardwired, which is fine with me.

Thanks for the new thread Nylene! Thank goodness we have you! Can't wait to see your new layout! I have been working all evening on making up one of the Christmas cards I came up with-inspiration from Pinterest but made a few changes! I tell you I remember more and more why I love that Silhouette! I was cutting out the prices for my card and I was making print and cuts and it just blows my mind how that thing works! If we make the same cards that is ok since we send to different people. I also try to make mine a little different from the original! I was so glad to hear you are enjoying those kids and I see it as very lucky children to have you to help them learn to read since it will affect them for the rest of their lives! Time for me to go to bed so TTYL!

You all know how techno-challenged I am. Well, today Em came over and walked me through setting up my new printer/scanner. Then she left me to figure out how to use this thing!! I have worked for hours trying to learn all the ins and outs. Why can't printers last forever?? I think I have the basics now. I have scanned a couple of things, but couldn't find where they were filed. I'm used to scanning, then saving them to a file I want. This one has you find the file before you scan and it seems to take so many clicks and windows to finally get it into that file. I'm sure I'll love it once I'm no longer scared of it. The good thing is that it has a setting for cardstock. I've always run cardstock through my other ones even though it was heavier than the recommended weight. I've just been careful when I do it.
Instead of making decisions on my Christmas cards today, I've fiddled with this new machine all day. Cindy, you are more creative than I. If I like a Pinterest card, I often don't change much on it. If I post it, I do give credit to the original maker. I'm still deciding on what to make. I make only one design each year and keep a copy in my scrapbook. Can't wait to see the ones you've decided to make.
Have a great weekend if I don't get back until Monday.

Cindy, I love your cards. They are all so much work! You have really outdone yourself. Thanks for the email. I sent one back. I did this page for the October Bonus Challenge here and also for Pokey Peas, of course. I finally got it scanned on the new machine. Hope I get a bit more comfortable with it soon. Happy Sunday and happy October! They got our windows done and I am looking forward to getting back to normal. Still have some stuff to put back in place but it is coming along. Thank the Lord! LOL! My craft table has missed me and I it. So we will see what I will be up to this week. Nylene- Thanks for the new thread. Oh a new printer! How fun! I hope you enjoy figuring out things with the help of your dd and dsil. Glad to see your new layout too. I gotta check it out and leave my cheers later. But it looks like another great page. Keys are cool too. Cindy- Your teams won! Hope the Browns do alright today. I am excited that my Lakers start preseason game #1 tonight. So that should be fun. Also, your cards sound very nice. I got to get my pp out and see what ideas I may get for my holiday cards. I can't believe the holidays are coming around the corner.

Cindy, I just clicked on the gallery and spotted your card. I went to leave a note on it before I realized it was yours. It's so pretty. I love what you did to the embossed area on your border. Beautiful job. Can't wait to see your next Christmas card.
Kelly, I'm glad you got your windows done and things are getting put back in place. Hope you get some time at your craft table and then share with us. I'm really anxious to see what you do with that new Christmas paper line.
I worked on a layout today. I hope I can get it to scan. I'm still learning the new machine. I tried to print today and forgot to click "current page" and it started to print the whole document. I pulled out the paper tray...that would cause a box to come up on my old printer and I could cancel the print. Do you think I could find a way to cancel? I tried everything, even turning the dumb thing off. I finally got it canceled but need to read and learn a better way to do it. Oh, I hate learning new technology!!
We are leaving this week for Steve's conference so I won't be around too much. I'll check in when I can.

Wow Nylene your pages are so moving! They tugged at my heart. We will miss you when you are away but look forward to your return. I was thinking about the carvings I saw yesterday and how special your dad's were to all of you. What a special gift. There are so many types of art -you know different strokes for different folks! Oh I must be tired when I start getting like this! LOL I hope you find the cancel button too. Mine has a screen on the front of the printer where you can press copy, scan or whatever and on that screen is a red x and you can cancel by touching that. Maybe that will help you find it. I think you are doing very well with your technology! It takes all of us a little while to adapt! Ok enough of me for today!

Happy Tuesday! It is a nice sunny day here. We got a little rain and hope it helped our drought. Last night, I was looking at my new Christmas pp. It is a little darker than I would like. The reds are more maroon. But I want to let the paper sit for a while until inspiration happens. LOL! I will be doing a little painting today too. I want to continue the last one I started before all the window interruptions. Maybe this week I can get back to my sewing projects too.
Nylene- I hope you have a fun time away. We will miss ya. Oh and your layouts are so good. What a good idea to scrap about your family home.
Cindy- How's it going on those cards? How many do you plan to make? Not sure how many I will make this year. I looked at some of my old card videos yesterday to get some ideas. Remember when I made and sold my cards at Tori Spellings store? That was so cool and I hope to make some more pretty ones like those.

Happy Thursday! I have been working on a painting and I love that stage when it really begin to come to life. Still have some more work to do on it but I will share it soon. Also, I was so happy I got my curtain rods for my window valances. So now I can really get going on my sewing this weekend. I will take some pics of that too. Nylene- Waving hi to ya and hope you are having fun! Cindy- That business running, card selling girl is still in me. I think she just needed to take a break. My dh and I are working on getting my card & art business up and running again. And now that I have all this art, I am really exciting about that. OMG, there are lots of sports tonight! We have USC football, Laker game and NFL! Plus, tomorrow the Dodgers are starting the playoffs. Lots going on! Hope you enjoy your games too. Also, you have been making lots of cards! WOW! It sounds like you are halfway done and it is only early October. You did great to get this many done already. Go girl! Not sure how many I will make this year but I got plenty of pp for sure. I even still have pp from my Anna Griffin kit for a few years ago. LOL!

Good morning Sweet Ladies! I'm trying to get myself motivated to move this morning. I was awakened at 5am by Grif this morning, who unfortunately appears to have a stomach bug...eew. Cindy - It's great that you will have a garage door opener. I can't imagine not having one, although ours hasn't been working right for a few months...I sort of messed it up. When I got a new car, Mallory and I tried to program the opener in my car and it unprogrammed the whole garage door opener...oops. So, I still need to go try to set it up again. It's really inconvenient to have to get out of the car and push the buttons every time. (Nylene - I'm joining you in the technologically challenged club). I hope you ladies have a happy Sunday.

Hi, everyone! It's good to be back. My ipad was not cooperating in Wendover, so I couldn't even keep up on reading what was going on. We came back Friday night and Sat. I woke up with the worst migraine I've had in many years. I made a grocery list for Steve and went back to bed for 2 days. Wow, I'd forgotten how miserable they can be. The residue of the migraine is there today, but not so much pain. I always feel like if I shook my head after a migraine, my brains would run out my ears. I just feel scrambled. I'm glad we have Fall break this week so I only have school on Wed. Cindy, I couldn't imagine why my notifications said I had 10 notifications and I hadn't even been on the board. It led me to your post. You are such a sweetie. What a nice thing to say. I'm not anything like a "celeb", but I just keep hanging in there. Thank you, sweet friend. I loved what you told me about the carvings you got to see. I know my dad would have been over the moon looking at them. Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the rest of your Christmas cards. I finished 50 in the hotel. They are the simplest I've ever done, but they are OK for me this year. Also thanks for the info. on your cancel button. Mine has a STOP button on front but it just stops it and doesn't cancel the printing. So far I've only found a way to go into the advanced settings, etc and cancel. I know there's an easier way. Just need the time to research it. Kelly, now you really have me curious to see what you are going to do with your new papers. I loved drooling over your cards in the your Etsy shop. I hope things work out so you can do that again. I want to see what painting you have been doing. Be sure to show us photos of your new window valances. Tina, it's great to see you. I'm sorry Grif is not feeling well. Hope it doesn't last long. What else is going on in your life? I had to chuckle about your garage door opener. That sounds just like something I would do...if it's technical, I'll mess it up. We don't have a garage, but we have a carport. We built our home in the early 70's and the carport is not very wide. Cars have increased in width since then, so it's a tight fit. Maybe someday we will increase the size and add a garage, but it would mean tearing out retaining walls, concrete, etc. Probably won't get done. At least I won't have to worry about messing up the door opener! LOL

Happy Monday! Our weather out here is still HOT. I think it doesn't know it is Fall time. I am so ready for the heat to cool off so I can comfortably use my oven for making baked dishes. But inspite of the heat, we did have a nice weekend. I got over to M's and got a few things. Today I will be working on my art table. I will share pics as I am finished with some of these projects. Tina- Good to see ya and hope you have a nice week. Cindy- How is your new garage opener working? I saw your Browns won yesterday! Very cool! Nylene- Welcome back! Sorry you weren't feeling well but I am glad to hear you got lots of rest. Keep taking it easy and sending you some virtual tea.

Hi everyone! So nice to see everyone back home and checking in. The garage door opener has still not been installed but maybe tomorrow. He has been adding outdoor plugs in both the front & back of my house, and one on the outside of the garage. He also installed some inside the garage and will be adding lights out there also. I will not know how to act after living here 42 years without them. I was out there cleaning another section of the garage so my half of the garage is all cleaned out and organized. Yes Kelly out Browns won their game in overtime. I could not believe it! Only because the Ravens are playing worse then we are. Nylene I know in actuality you were not a celebrity at Two Peas but should have been! You were and are one in my book! And I have to say I have a few folks around here who agree with me!
BTW do you watch the Voice? There is a young man on their from your hometown! He sings very well and sounds a lot like Neil Diamond! Well I am going to go for now!

Cindy, is Bob doing the garage door opener and the new lights? I don't usually watch the Voice, but I saw the local news last night that showed him. I've never seen or heard of him before. That's pretty cool for him. Now I'll have to make a point to watch. I'm tending Alex all day today while Em has some minor surgery. They keep bumping back her time, so it may be late before they can get home. Alex is getting a bit anxious. Steve just took him for a walk. What a busy little 3 year old.
Better run. Have a nice day!

Hi all! No Bob is not doing the garage door openers. The man doing it retired from the electric dept in our city. He put in a entire new panel and has wired the garage, and added outdoor outlets on the house. Our garage is not attached so they had to rent a backhoe to dig a trench to bury the line in conduit. He is almost done-he is going to install two garage door openers and lights in the garage and then finished. He does meticulous work.
The guy on the Voice is really good. He always wears a hat and his voice sounds a lot like Neil Diamond. He was on Blake's team but was stolen by Adam so now he is on his team. He is really good!
I was out raking up acorns today for an hour-I never saw so many acorns! I swear all the nut trees were prolific this year! I am sick of cleaning up nut residue that the squirrels leave and of them digging up my yard! Chippies too! Two of them got into my AC unit and well the fan did not treat them kindly! I was finishing up my cards the other night but had to fix a few of them as the stamp did not stamp right.
Sounds like Alex is normal! Bobby was a really busy guy too-not so much now. Maggie gets to paint a window at Home Depot for Halloween! It is fun-I got to do it when I was in seventh grade too! How I got to do that I do it know as I can not draw or paint very well! Maggie is in 6th grade. I will definitely scrap a page with pics!
Well enough from me-be back later!

Cindy, I didn't realize your electricity overhaul was so involved. Yes, best to have an electrician doing it. I had to chuckle about your squirrels making a mess. Years ago someone got the great idea to bring squirrels to the parks in Burley. They thought they would be fun for children to watch. Well......didn't take long til they overtook the town. They chewed the telephone wires down to nothing and phones were going out all over. No one could harvest their walnuts because the squirrels would get there first. Then the city decided it hadn't been a good idea. They hired my dad to trap them, but asked him not to tell anyone that he had been hired. He was paid so much per squirrel tail!! He trapped a lot, but the town is still full of them. I'm sure he wasn't the only trapper hired. I think the city councilman who suggested introducing the squirrels moved away! He may have been fearing for his life! It's bad enough when they are native to an area, but to bring them in? ?? I posted another layout but forgot to link it here. Cindy- Wow, that is a big job they are doing and I hope they can get it done soon. I know you must be excited to use your new lights and power out there. You really worked too getting all those acorns up. I rarely see a squirrel and never thought about all the stuff they get into. Geez!
Nylene- That story about the imported squirrels was too funny. I never heard of bring them in and look at all the trouble they caused. Oh boy, that was a mess. LOL! Your layouts are darling and I am going to give you some praise. Hope you are feeling better too.

Hey ladies! Hope your week is starting off good. We has a very nice weekend. We went to Seal Beach and spent the afternoon there. I had been wanting to go and it was so nice. They have a downtown area that is full of cute shops and eateries. Plus it is right next to the pier and beach all in a short walling distance. So I had a blast and did take some pictures. Now I have more to scrap. Today I will be continuing some of my projects as well as the usual house stuff. Tomorrow Ron and I are taking a free drawing class at Michael's. I am excited and hope it will be fun. So I will let you all know how it goes. I would like to take more classes there but with the class fee and the cost of the supplies it is too much for my budget. So I was happy to see a free one. Cindy- Your cards are AMAZING!!! I love them all and off to see them up close on Flickr. You put a lot of work into them too. Your die cutting machine must of been smoking! LOL! Nylene- Hey there! Sending you hellos.

Happy Wednesday! The art class last night was so cool! There were only three of us students and the instructor was nice. We learned a few things but the best was learning how to make those zentangle or mandala designs. That was fun and I got sort of sleepy after a while so I guess it was relaxing. Ron enjoyed it too.
Waving hi and hope you all are having a nice day!

Kelly your art class sounded inspirational! You better watch out though as Ron may take over! LOL Thanks so much for your kind words about my cards! Looking forward to seeing yours as I know they will be beautiful.
Nylene-Where are you? Have not heard from you in a week and we miss you. I am hoping you have been busy and are not sick or that Steve is doing 100%
Well when my news is over I will be heading in to work on my layout.

Sorry to be absent. There has been so much going on here. I've been helping with Alex while Em recuperates, and he's not allowed in the Scraproom so I haven't been able to get to the computer. We are having solar panels installed on the house tomorrow so have been getting things ready for that. School is back in session after Fall break, so that keeps me busy too. I just found out that my replacement in Webelos quit after a couple of weeks and no one on the Scout Committee knew about it. The boys haven't met for 2 months and the 3 boys who earned the Arrow of Light with me did not get it ordered. 2 of them have turned 11, and registered as Boy Scouts so are no longer eligible to receive it. I am so disappointed for them. I'm hoping they can work around it somehow and present them. They asked if Steve and I would make plaques for them like we have done for the last 8 years. I'd volunteer to take them over again if I felt that I had the physical ability to do all the new outdoor requirements. It's not fun getting old and arthritic!!
Cindy, your cards are just gorgeous. So much work. You put me to shame. Mine this year are more simple than I've ever made. You must have an assembly line set up to do all those pieces and layers. I just did a card for card club this week. I'll scan and post soon.I stamped on it and took your advice on stamping on something soft. I have a little soft mat and the stamping turned out so much better than ever before. Maybe I'll become a stamper yet. Now I want to stamp on a layout!
Kelly, your day at the beach sounds wonderful. And the art class sounds even better. I've always wondered how they do those zentangles. I'm anxious to see what you make with your new art knowledge. I hope they continue to offer a free class now and then. You and Ron seem to have so much fun together. That's a great thing!
Well, I'm off to bed. The solar guys will be here before 7 tomorrow, so I'd better get some sleep so I'll be up and dressed when they arrive. LOL!
