I have an old Making Memories paper trimmer that I love. I'd really like another one for the class I teach, but haven't been able to find one. I haven't seen MM stuff for a long time, and wondered if. I missed their demise, or if they are alive and maybe operating under another name?
Does anyone know of any company that makes the same type of trimmer, i.e. with a self-sharpening blade? I have tried other styles of trimmer, but hate having to buy replacement blades, or not to have one when I need one. I know a fabulous paper trimmer is the Holy Grail of tools, but surely there is one that everyone agrees is worth getting?!

Making Memories was sold to Colorbok (I think) several years ago. I'm pretty sure Colorbok isn't producing scrapping product under their name, though, but you might try contacting them?

I loved my MM trimmer. When their other lines started to go downwards I saw the writing on the wall and bought a spare, which I did not love as much as my original. If you are not hooked on having a paper guard to slip your paper under ( or finger guard? the plastic thingy that lifts up running parallel to the blade) try a Cutterpillar. The light up feature is great.
I need the guard so I ended up with the Fiskars Proscision (sp?) which is an amazing self-sharpening rotary. I bought this from the US as no LSS here was bringing them in; this was at a time when a bad batch of this trimmer was in circulation and being spoken of online, but I took a chance and I love it. If you are lucky enough to have a LSS, ask if you can try it out and look at two things to see if my fave is for you: it is huge. The blade carriage sits much higher than your old MM, the footprint is bigger on your desk, in particular the blade part is longer. Secondly, a lot of users don't like the way the 6 inch measurement sits directly where the hinge/ fold is. You get used to that.
I have all 3 of these trimmers, if you need to ask any Q's not covered here I would be happy to help. Good luck! The Cutterpillar is also quite big and does not fold up, BTW.

I love my MM trimmer, too. I bought a second one on sale because it was pink You CAN take them apart at the top right and clean the blade. I discovered this after my DGD tried to cut a stack of paper at once.
