So disappointed that it wasn't "Make it Sew"
Not surprised who won. Slightly surprised who went home.
We still have a week extra (from when Jake went) and a Tim Gunn save.
I never thought Merline would outlast so many.
TBH I wasn't as aghast at Laurie's model's boobies showing this week. It was modest boobies showing.
Kelly stays true to herself.
Candace *yawn*
Swapnil WTH
Ashley meh
I think Edmond got Tim Gunn saved in the workroom!

Everybody can wear Edmond's dress?? Right. I could wear it as a leg warmer....on just one leg.
I loved Ashley's look. Her garment was way more ready to wear for Justfab customers, imo. Loved the jacket.
Merline's was a hot mess. She needs to be gone. Now.
Cookie monster wants his jacket back, stat.
Candice was ok, I liked the top, the gathered crap on the bottom needed to go.
Swapnil? Meh. I had such high hopes.
Sorry to see Laurie go, I really liked her. I did think hers was better than Merline's.
Zac Posen, there are no words, just go away. I'd rather see Isaac Mizrahi

I was really surprised Edmond won. I agree with Zac-that dress has been done a million times. There wasn't anything original about it.
I thought Ashley's jacket was really cute. I don't know why she picked the fabric she used for the skirt and top.
Merline's dress was an absolute mess. I thought she should have gone home.
I liked Swapnil's dress, but the cape was awful.

I missed where Ashley got the fabric for her top & dress. I didn't think she got it at mood. Her jacket is cute but her top & skirt are her same look. She'd better do something different. Laurie or Merline could have gone home for me. Merline's was worse. Edmund's dress looked like it was meant for clubbing. Swapnil better step it up. Is next week the week where the person Tim wants to leave sooner leaves?[ Kellys outfit could have been better with different fabric. I didn't like that vest but they are everywhere in the stores right now. Although I haven't seen anyone wearing them.
]I'm taking jewelry classes with some girls who majored in fashion design at Columbus college of Art & Design. They said there's no way those people weren't taught to sew if they went to design school. They spent 2 years on pattern design by hand. It's interesting to hear their take on it. The 3 of them are in their 20s and they're very condescending to the non design school graduates like me. Kind of annoying because they know nothing about us. I don't broadcast that I was an art major for 2 years in college.

I liked that it was a drama-free episode. I admired Candace for making assignments based on designers' strengths. I liked Ashley's jacket. That's it for the positives.
As in all of the retailer-based competitions, I suspect the retailer-judge is calling the shots.
Zac liked Merline's dress??
I'll miss Laurie, but just because she's so likable.

Really, so disappointed in the designs that were shown. I had much higher expectations. ITA AmeliaBloomer the retailer knows their margin and market, but I suspect the production cost drives much of the decision. That dress was borING! Again, my favorite, Ashley is falling apart! What was she thinking with that pastel fabric? When she held it out and asked for 2 yards, I was yelling "not that! NOT THAT!" She's losing her POV and where she started. I'm starting to wonder if her early, stronger designs were a fluke or is this all a result of failing confidence?

I thought everyone was underwhelming. I'm not getting the love for Ashley, her constant whining and lack of confidence is starting to annoy me. Hasn't she said something about being "so lost" in almost every challenge now? I agree the jacket looked good but the rest of it was so basic, I could almost make that and I only have basic sewing skills. It's pretty much the same design as her first challenge outfit, crop top and skirt except this a short circle skirt instead of a long box pleat skirt. Both crop tops had the V opening in the back. I think she maybe she has spent too much time designing her plus size range and she hasn't got very many ideas for this sort of fashion. I agree that Edmund won probably only won because the sponsor could see the $$ signs. It will be a cheap dress to make and it was have the PR 'name' to go with it, but there was nothing new or interesting about it. I hated all the others, especially Swapnil what an obvious choice for 'bombshell' to use a leopard print...probably only a tacky "housewife of somewhere" would buy that. Laurie and the boobs, seriously was she not listening at all last week when they criticised her for that? and who will wear that? someone with tiny boobs who doesn't need a bra and is also happy for everyone to see her nipples? I bet there's not many women who shop for dresses with that criteria in mind. Kelly, ugh, where has she been that she thought her outfit was new? So many designers on PR have done the mixing patterns things and those muppet vests aren't new, they have been around so long that they're out of fashion again. I think it's highly likely that Tim Gunn won't use his 'save' this season, there's not one designer that has produced great outfits each week who will just have an 'off' challenge and therefore require saving. I doubt he'd save Merlene, Swapnil or Kelly...and the other 3 will make it into the finals anyway. I can't wait until next week, I want to hear Tim say fuck although I bet he says it a lot in real life.

I really liked Ashley's outfit and think she should gave won. She definitely bought her fabric at Mood, there isn't any other option when the go to Mood. When she pulled the bolt if that pastel patterned fabric on the shelf, I instantly grimaced. I love print but was hoping she would choose something else. Her new design though made that print palatable.

Also now that I think about it Ashley did the same look for challenge where she used the polaroids as well...short circle skirt and crop top with the inverted V in the back (the picture below shows the front, but it was the same in the back). She's done the same outfit 3 different times, with only a little variation each time:
To my mind that's a cop out way of not sewing a top that needs to be fitted properly and actually has some design elements to it.

Last night was underwhelming for me, too. I liked listening to Laurie's voice, so I'll miss her and her little stories about her daughter. Can't believe Merline is still there, but she is a positive voice in the workroom and always encouraging to the other designers. I was actually thinking Kelly would go home and then Tim would save her: that's how I interpreted the foreshadowing I thought I saw when he was talking to her about how he "gets" her style. I remember something else from seeing Tim Gunn last week in person. He mentioned how he hardly ever uses the "F" word, but when he does, it's justified. Then he said he used in on Runway this season (next week) and when the editors asked him if he would like for them to take it out, he said "Absolutely not. It was justified!" So now I'm so curious to see what moves him to that language. Probably Swapnill, who I suspect is the person he eluded to leaving in the 10th episode. I watched the entire episode with a new set of eyes after my experience of seeing Tim Gunn and hearing his take on the show. I kept watching him during the judging, and I just know I saw him sneering at the judges.

To answer your question pjaye, I think I tend to choose a favorite or two early and root them on. I liked Ashley's early designs so I chose her. I think you are right tho (obviously with the photos you posted), and she's repetitive with her designs and needs to step it up. I'm not feeling the love for anyone else this season, so I'm going to continue to root for her and hope she can collect herself. There are some seasons (particularly the early ones) that were so fun to watch! I miss the extreme talent and fun personalities. Lately it feels like Project Runway is like cold, dry, toast.

I totally think Merline should have gone home!! ugh. I really liked Ashley's look, but like pjaye said, she's done this before. But isn't that sort of what they do? remember fringe guy from a few yrs back? and what's her name that did the SAME silhoutte ea time. The girl that didn't "know how to sew". So they come in with a fashion statement that carries with them. I'm ok with that. I thought edmonds dress was boring, and been done a million times. kelly's look is very in right now. Has anyone been shoping lately? those muppets vests are everywhere!! But I've never actually seen anyone wear them IRL! ha. Along with the patterns, and tight legging pants. Alot of the younger girls are wearing this right now.
Does anyone think that the judges should be so undecided, and so conflicted every runway? HA. I mean, half the stuff they said, I was like, you should have said that 2 wks ago! or last wk!

I can't remember her name, but there was the designer who had "waves" in so many of her designs. I guess when it works, it's a positive, when it doesn't create a win, it's time to move on.

I really hated everything in the show. Ashley's whining, Edmond's dress and Zac's attitude. I too was looking at Tim and watching him closely. He did sneer!!! Lol.
I really loved Ashley in the beginning but she is getting on my last nerve now. She needs to design something new, I totally agree. I still love Edmond and his dress was well made but so predictable. I almost bought one for a dinner dance exactly the same and I am not even close to a fashionista.
Thought Merline should have gone but see why Laurie did.
Candice's outfit was awful. Hated it. Kelly's was hideous. Swapnil needs an ass kicking. He is just lazy and unmotivated now.
Did anyone see next week's preview?

As in all of the retailer-based competitions, I suspect the retailer-judge is calling the shots. Zac liked Merline's dress?? I'll miss Laurie, but just because she's so likable. I am not the biggest Candace fan, but I have to agree, I was impressed that she tried to make assignments by what she thought were the designers' strengths. That was pretty classy, and not everyone would have done that.
I, too, laughed when the judges were all exclaiming how all body types could wear Edmond's dress. Seriously? All tall, super thin, no bulges body types, maybe.
Ashley has definitely done similar silhouettes before, but I kind of understood why she sent to it last night. Her original design was dissed by Tim, she had no other fabric, and she had to create something out of two yards of fabric that had already been made into a dress. She knew she could get that outfit out of that amount of fabric, and get it done by the end of the challenge. Since she did create a "new" piece, that little gold bomber jacket, I was ok with the rehash of the circle skirt and crop top. The jacket had all kinds of cute details and really looked well made.
I thought Kelli's look was adorable, and I have not seen that sort of thing everywhere, but then I'm not especially fashionable so maybe I just haven't noticed. I liked that she stayed true to herself.
Merline would drive me crazy if I were one of the competitors, but she definitely a positive person. However, I don't get the stuff she makes at all, and none of it ever looks finished. A white weirdly shaped peplum dress to embody romanticism?

Next week's preview is where the designers get to design for "real people" (in this case, the PR production staff). This is also the episode where Tim flips out and throws down the F bomb.

Is the season bad or have they voted off the wrong designers?
I wasn't a Blake fan to begin with but I think he went too early and showed creative promise (even though his finishing was awful) etc.
I also think I would have liked to have seen more from David and Duncan (1st one out)
I know the show is vote off every week but honestly I would be ok with some weeks everyone being safe and others 2 or more going.

I wasn't thrilled with the winner and agree it was a churn 'em out cheap and slap a price tag decision. I liked Candace's the best and was happy with her decision to support people with her assignments.
I like Kelly, but it looked like workout wear ...and a fuzzy vest to me.
I couldn't believe Ashley's fabric choice for that dress. I couldn't imagine anything good coming out of that. The jacket was nice though.
I liked Laurie, but after last week and this week, I think it was justified.

wrongwayfeldman, my spidey sense was also mightily aroused by the amount and intensity of Kelli love - from Tim and from other contestants. It was like the editors, who know how it all turns out, were laying groundwork with us viewers so we'll support a save. (Too bad they have to TELL us how good she is...instead of her showing us.) I just read all the posts about Ashley. I wonder if she simply doesn't know how to design shapes for thin girls. She's made her plus-size experience and ambitions very clear; perhaps her floundering is because she's so out of her element. I think she'll make the finals because the producers will want to feature a plus-size collection for the first time. I'd like to see what she presents...as long as she doesn't use that hideous cotton print. Tom was spot-on when he likened it to hospital scrubs.

I'm losing interest in this season. I really liked Ashley, but WTH was she thinking with that fabric? It reminded me of the awful easter egg fabric from the paintball challenge. On the other hand, I was very impressed with the way she salvaged her look after Tim told her it looked like a hospital gown. He was right, and I though she was doomed, because I couldn't imagine how she could possibly fix that. So she was the winner for me because she was able to take something so awful and make it cute.
Edward truly gets the point of the challenge, which is to please the sponsors. I agreed with Zac about his red dress, even though I actually really liked it and would wear it if I had the body for it. But, the reason he deserved the win is because he designed something that would be easy to sell on a website. He met the challenge, while Ashley was the only other one who even came close.
Is it just me, or are the designers actually getting worse each week instead of improving? I just like less and less every week. Now I'm just hoping for a win by someone with a great personality, because I don't think any of them deserve it at this point. I'm going to hang on at least one more week, because the Real Women challenge is always my favorite. I am also clinging to the hope that things really do improve after the week 10 person goes home, like Tim said they would.
ETA: I love Laurie so much! I'm not at all surprised she went home, and it was deserved after these last 3 weeks, but I love her! I want to be friends with her in real life.

I'm still watching and I am not quite sure why but this season has gone downhill quick! It looks like it is Edmund's to lose...maybe Candace.
Swapnil's ego and lazy attitude is becoming super apparent. When he said tonight that he gave 200% last week, I don't think even he believed it. He was trying to cry on Tim's shoulder about not winning a challenge but Tim wasn't buying it. He needs to go..I was impressed the first few weeks but he is a disappointment.
Not sure why Ashley needed Tim to tell her that the first look was awful...hated the fabric of the skirt and top but she did make it supercute after his critique.
Edmunds was run of the mill but well made.
Will miss Laurie. Really liked her - super sweet.

My prediction is that Tim uses the F bomb because one of the designers complains about his "real woman" model's body flaws.
