Mine came today (I bought 3, one for me, 2 for my nieces for down the road.. I'll give them as a set as a gift when they are old enough to appreciate it).
They are beautiful. So full of illustrations (almost every page has something). It's like seeing the books again for the first time.

Awesome! My original 7 books are in kind of rough shape. I took the dust jackets off of them because they were getting beat up, so now the books look very well-loved. So part of me wants to buy these, but then I figure I'll have 2 sets of thoroughly trashed HP books instead of just 1. ETA: Hmmmm....it just dawned on me that I have read these books to my 12 year old umpteen times each, but I've never read them to my 5 year old yet. Illustrated ones would be a great way to introduce them to him. (I just needed a good excuse. )

I think with the additional sets, I'm going to write a letter to my nieces with my thoughts on the book, and a painting I've done of one of the characters.

Is it just book 1 available? Yes, one book will be released every year for the next 7 years.

Got mine a few hours ago. My DS (17 years old) and I spent an hour going from page 1 to the end looking at each page. So much to see. I loved the illustrations of Diagonal Alley, the dragon eggs, the trolls and the golden snitch (gorgeous) especially. Really everything is fantastic.

Can someone post a link? Cindy On Amazon Looks like there's a few pics on there of the illustrations. If you google it, you'll see more of the illustrations from news stories recently.

ooh, I love the size of the book! We're space deprived around here but I'll have to find a spot to keep it anyway.

I ordered mine after seeing this post, and it's set for delivery tomorrow. I have a question, though... It's the original story, right? Or is is modified in any way?

Is it available with the British text?

Is it available with the British text? I was wondering the same. There is no way I would ever own a copy of the "Sorcerer's stone". It is one of biggest pet peeves, that even after all the success they didn't change back to the historical reference to the Philosopher's stone and from the made up Sorcerer's stone.

Is it available with the British text? You may have to fiddle around with email addresses and gift addresses and such. That's how I was able to buy the audiobooks read by Stephen Fry (British text). I also have the American/Jim Dale audiobooks. I prefer the British/Stephen Fry version -- except for his portrayal of Hermione. It drives me crazy that he makes her whiney all.the.time.

We have the Stephen Fry audiobooks too! What's your take on "his" Hermione? Am I misinterpreting? Honestly, it has been a long time since we have listened to them. I'll try to have a listen and come back. I think the problem is Stephen has a very masculine voice so to feminize it for audio only would sound whiny. FWIW I adore Stephen, so underrated.
