I think you should post the picture from last week and the current one so we can see the difference in the colors (and see if we are all color blind too LOL!)

How do you post pics from your phone? I don't have the app and when I click reply don't see the picture box option.

I would ask for a refund, even if just a partial one. When I used to have my hair professionally colored, I would have a small index card with me and if I liked a particular color and highlights, I would tell the colorist to write down the formulas she used on the card. That way, when I returned and wanted the same thing I would just show the card and the colorist can duplicate the exact formula. This is especially helpful if you require a seamless blend of hues where lowlights and highlights are needed. I always thought this was a hairdresser's secret? I had a co-worker leave her long time hairdresser and she refused to give her the formula. I also remember reading here on the board a pea moved out of state and had the same experience. I feel like asking for a refund means having to go back to the salon and seeing everyone and I don't want that stress. But I did read a recent article with Khloe Kardashian's hairdresser explaining how went through 5 shades of hair color, going lighter and lighter to blonde, within a 2 month period by using Olaplex. I thought it was a product placement ad, but I googled it and it seems it's a really good product and when I go to their website it says my hair salon uses that product. It's some new technology that dramatically reduce breakage with every color service. So I could ask them to use it on me.

But it is not a cheap product. I really think you should contact the owner. Everyone makes mistakes, and they should fix it. A colorist uses the same formula, but they do tweak it depending on what your hair looks like currently (i.e. summer vs. winter.) Even if you don't get it dried (and charging for a blow dry after a color is bull hockey) you should have them dry a patch to do a color check.

If you're blonder than you want to be (which is how I'm interpreting Taylor Swift blonde versus golden blond) I doubt it will need to be bleached to get to the correct color. I would contact the manager and tell them you are unhappy and the stylist was unable to match your previous color, does she want to attempt to match or should you simply contest the charge on your credit card? I wouldn't go back to someone who isn't able to understand/or admit the color is incorrect.

Sorry - I always thought she was the platinum blonde one.... hmm I suppose I should keep better track of my daughter's music interests - or not. Good luck with the hair.

My hairdresser had one hip replaced a few months ago and I had to visit another stylist while he was out. He wrote down my "formula" so I could get the same results from the next person. Now he's out having the other hip done and I am still using that little card. Although she and I agreed on a tweak to work in some darker strands for fall/winter.
*My* dilemma is that I REALLY like the cuts the other person has done each time. I'm flirting with the idea of staying with her for a while. But I hate to do that to my long-time male hairdresser. We've been buddies for a long time. Gah. I hate the whole weird hairdresser loyalty thing.

IDK what I would do, but I'd be having a fit to pay that much for my hair to be done and it not be right!

They should be making it right without you having to put up a fuss. A couple of years ago, my hairdresser and I decided to try to put some red in my hair. It was gone within a week. I happened to be in there around that time with ds or dh and she noticed and insisted on trying again the following week (maybe 2 more weeks). She redid it at no charge. (for the record, it only lasted two weeks that time LOL. My hair won't hold red!)

I think I would call the manager or the owner of the salon and tell them your dilemma. Then, I would see if they are going to issue you a refund. If it were me, I'd get names of people in your area that specialize in color. Yelp, Google, your friends. Whatever, but find someone that specializes in this type of problem: Color correction.

I can't tell from this description, but if she was defensive or unpleasant at all, and not concerned that you are unhappy, I wouldn't go back to her. When I've been in that situation, I called a high(er) end salon and said I'd had a hair color malfunction and needed corrective color and hair treatment - they made me a somewhat urgent appt and got me in pretty fast. Ooo, one time? My hair was like steel wool. Blond steel wool. There was no fixing that, except with time. Your situation doesn't sound so dire, I hope. Good luck.

olaplex is supposed to be awesome, awesome stuff. I've been reading a lot about it, down to scientific articles with the molecular structure. I haven't bought it yet because holy S it is expensive! but I think it would definitely help you avoid breakage if indeed you want to have it bleached again. Hard as it may be, you really should try to live with it a week or two until you process it again, considering all it's been thru these last couple days! you can use olaplex right now, or do a keratin treatment to help restore some strength.

She sings the praises of Olaplex herself. She's obviously not very experienced, but she works with a lot of black women and black hair. Check into it! ETA I hear it's very pricey though, and I see a few others above said the same thing.

Just so you know, you can't but Olaplex, it's a salon product only, so unless you buy it from a salon, or have it done there, I wouldn't trust the quality.

I'd call the manager and see if another stylist can fix it. If not, cut your losses and go find someone else.
I'm sorry this happened. You had no reason to think the third visit would be any different than the first two.

*sorry I can't figure out how to make paragraphs for m my phone lol* I am a hair stylist. Here are a few thoughts I have so far: first of all she probably didnot have your formula written down. Not everyone ddoes. After formulating color everyday you pretty much have an eye for it. I write everything down though. Second: if you want to go lighter its gonna cause damage after so much. Maybe just have it toned to a different blond. If it looks gray she probably used a violet toner which is the opposite of the gold blond you wanted. Gold means yellow in haircolor. Lastly you need the olaplex it really saves your hair especially if you lighten with bleach! You can buy the at home product and use it a few times to help strengthen your hair before going back. As far as should you go back to her, you already gave her a chance to fix. Sounds like she is not listening to what you want. Move on to someone else. If you're willing to pay as much as you are on color you should be able to find someone. Look up salons in your area with good reviews then call themand say you are looking for a new sstylist to correct a color gone wrong . explain everything so they can match you with someone with experience.

My new stylist charged me $20 extra to add the OlaPlex. There was definitely a noticeable difference w/the color & texture. bomp , what is the at home Olaplex product? I definitely need extra treatment for my dry hair.

I definitely need extra treatment for my dry hair. there are 3 parts. Part one is sold to licenced pros only and is added to your color or used as a stand alone treatment. Part two is also licensed pro only and is used at the shampoo bowl after kind of like a sealer. Part three is available for retail and is a diluted version of part two. It is not a conditioner its a chemicle that rebuilds broken bonds in the hair. Its science and it works. number three retails for 24 $ in my area some places are charging $75

I'm upset now she didn't ask me if I wanted it, I would have paid the extra $20 to have it.

You know, intellectually I say you should go back to the salon to demand they fix it...but when I was in that situation, I went to another salon and asked them to sort it out. There was no way I was going to trust the same salon with making things right when they goofed it up the first time so badly.

I get that they tell you that, just like they do with the genuine pravana I have in my cabinet.

I've been using Olaplex for about 6 months. They use it at the salon but my hairdresser was pretty insistent I get some for home too. I think it helps a bit but I did not notice drastic results.
As for the hairdresser, no way would I go back to her. I would call the owner and ask for a refund. Though I would be surprised if you got a total refund. Sorry you are going through this. I hate getting my hair done because I am afraid of stuff like this.
