I used to live in the Springs, right below Pikes Peak. I NEVER tired of the view and would move back in a heartbeat.

No, I don't! We lived on the Western Slope for 3 yrs, right in the middle of the mountains, and the views were even better there. Now we're east of CoSprings, and have a perfect view of Pike's Peak out the western side of the house. I love going up to see DH's family in Loveland where you can see even more mountains on the Front Range!

We've lived here a little over a year and I'm still blown away by the beauty. Our house is at the bottom of cheyenne mountain (think NORAD and Santa tracking) and it is framed by my front window. When I drive to and from work I watch the sun ris and set over the rockies and it slays me. I was born on Fort Carson Army Base

We just returned from a whirlwind driving vacation out West. I love that our country has so many different regions with such vastly differing terrain!!! We drove from Northern Maine to New York to visit my son and his fiancee, and then to OH and KY to visit family and then through TN, AR, TX, NM, AZ, NV, UT, CO, KS, MO, IL, IN, and then back through KY, etc. I was blown away and Colorado definitely took my breath away!! I want to go back when we have more time to spend exploring some of the sites!! Again, I love the beauty that our country holds!!! Yay! Another driving vacation refupea!! We are leaving in a few days for a 24 day driving vacation and will spend a couple of days in Estes Park, CO on our way to California, Oregon and Washington. I can't wait to see the mountains. We live in western NY and have nothing like that around here. The Adirondacks and Catskills are in NY...but really...I consider them more like big hills...

Pink_Mochas-
We were just west of Glenwood Springs, but went to Grand Junction sometimes for shopping. I loved being right there in the mountains, and it seemed like we got more rain there so everything was greener than it is here in CoSprings. I am glad we have better options for shopping and dining here, though.

I have to say it took me probably five years before I 'didn't' notice the mountains much anymore... Colorado Springs is much different from Denver though, in my opinion, the mountains are much more in your face. Every time I am in that direction is it amazing! Where I am at the mountains are almost like a far away backdrop.. most of the time if it isn't hazy or the dreaded brown cloud (a winter thing), or whatever, you don't see them very clearly. On some days when it is perfect out, the mountains are beautiful and I do stop and take notice.

This thread is useless without pictures. I've always wanted to write that on this forum Here is a panoramic photo (from the Wikipedia page). That was taken from City Park, which is much further east than where I live. There are so many places in town where when you are driving west and crest a hill that you get such an amazing view, it's just something I never get tired of. Like others, I feel blessed to live here. I never not notice the view. I was amused when I lived in the San Fransisco Bay area for a couple of years I would mention how much I missed the mountains. People would point to these puny little hills nearby and say "we have mountains!" I would just shake my head. My sister lives in the foothills and this is the view I see when I'm driving to her house, just barely out of Denver. (This is not my photo, I just found it when Googling.) One of the main concert venues here is Red Rocks Amphitheater, nestled at the base of the mountains. This is one of the best photos I've seen of it. The natural acoustics - and view - are just fabulous.

I love the view here! My dad used to say it was his stress relief on the drive home from work, just driving toward them.

We were at Keystone earlier this month and it was simply gorgeous. There were Mosquitos, even at 11,000 feet, and they all found me. But, the mountains made up for it.

I took several pictures of course but don 't know how to post here. We just got home tonight and I miss it ( and my dd and DGC) already. We will be going much more frequently now. I love winter in Colorado.

I live in Denver and I am the oddball because I sometimes am totally oblivious of the mountains around me until I catch myself on a crest of a hill and then I think what others from out of state must be experiencing. I do get a little giddy as I head into those hills to go horseback riding, hiking or skiing. 2 years ago I decided to play tourist with my teenage daughter,in my own state. I found a new appreciation for the sheer beauty of Colorado. I drove from Denver up to Glenwood Springs to hike to hanging lake and swim at the largest hot springs. We LOVE Glenwood Springs! We then headed over to Grand Junction then al the way down to the bottom corner of the state to see 4 Corners and Mesa Verde. The drive was spectacular, mountains and farm land. Pagosa Springs was magical and we went horseback riding deep into the trees. We finished up our trip with zip lining in Salida. It gave me such a new appreciation of my star and was such a wonderful bonding experience with my youngest. She never gets enough hiking for her soul. I understand why people love Colorado. even though I still not so secretly long to return to the beach.
My daughter played volleyball in Colorado Springs with her club twice a week last year and I totally understand what everyone says about the mountains being so close and in your face down there. It is about an hour from Denver but totally different in the landscape.
So to answer the question.... I don't get tired of the view, I just need reminders to see it through the eyes of others. Thanks for this reminder:) My goal is to get up to the Aspen area to see the Maroon Bells up close and personal before summer end, though hiking in early Fall is awesome.

There aren't too many places in this state (near the mountains) that just don't take your breath away. We travel out of the country and I am always happy to come back and see my mountains. Just as beautiful as any other place we visit.
