Or can they. Are there scholarships available past your freshman year? My daughter is overwhelmed right know so I don't want to ask her! Just curious for myself so when the time is right I can suggest that she look for some, and I don't want to mention it if they are not out there.

Often times there are scholarships for specific departments, such as nursing students or engineering students. There should be someone at the school that can direct her. There are other ones too. My credit union offers a scholarship for college students of any year, not just freshmen.

The first place she should be looking is her college/university financial aid office. There will be a application that usually needs to be filled out each year by Dec. Each school will have their own deadline. Then you might check online your state dept of education and Board of Regents. They may also have links for scholarships that are available statewide. Don't forget to check with the guidance counselor of her high school. Our small school has quite a few scholarships for 2 year and beyond students. Other than that search online for scholarships in specific areas. Good luck!
