I bought my first one today, a little over two pounds.
I've checked google and people poke holes in it and microwave it; or cut off both ends, slice it in half and bake it.
I'd like the safest way, no exploding in the microwave and no chopping off my fingers trying to cut the big thing in half.
Will a two pound one scoop out enough for two people for "spaghetti"?
Let me know your ideas!!
Thanks!

I roast it in the oven. I don't cut off the ends but I do cut it in half. I sprinkle with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil. I roast for about 45-1 hr at 375.

I did have one explode in the microwave once, so only roast now.
Definitely cut in half and pull out the seeds. Put a little water in a pyrex dish and then the squash in cut side down. Bake at 375 for 45 mins. Poke with a fork and if the sides are soft, pull it out of the oven. Shred the squash into a bowl and toss with butter, pepper and parmesan cheese. Sorry I don't pay attention to the weight when I buy one, but a large is good for the 4 or us. I need to cook at least 2 if they only have the small squash available.

I just cut in half and roast with salt and pepper for 45 minutes.
I like to top the halves with meat sauce and cheese and broil a few minutes.

I never cut mine before roasting in the oven. I generously poke holes with a fork all over and then put it in a 375 oven until it's soft and starting to brown a little.

I do it like Paige in our toaster over. I've made spaghetti with it, but really like a recipe called Spaghetti Squash Carbanara. I'm on my phone, but will try to post it later when I'm on the computer.

I just made my 1st one last week. I put it in the oven at 400 for an hour, sauteed mushrooms with garlic and mixed it with the spaghetti squash. It was pretty good. Wish there was a faster way to get the seeds out.

I used to cut it half but now I just poke it all over and then cook it in the oven whole.

I love spaghetti squash. I cut it in half longways and put half flesh side down in a bowl over a small amount of water and steam it in the microwave. I can eat the spaghetti from a half all by myself but I love it and when I cook it I might pig out a little. Top it with a pat of butter and a sprinkling of Parmesan.

I/2 squash per adult. I don't like spaghetti squash with marinara sauce-it does not take the place of pasta. Alight cheese or buttery sauce is nice. I think it is best when cooked like a vegetable or in a squash casserole type dish.

You can pressure cook it too if you want another option that doesn't take as long as roasting (and have a pressure cooker).

I cut it in half, too and scoop out seeds. I roast it in oven on a cookie sheet lined with tin foil (it will make a mess). Usually about 45 minutes on 400.

We always do it in the microwave and haven't ever had one explode. I cut it in half, scoop out the seeds and put it cut sides down in a Pyrex dish with about an inch of water in it and nuke it for about 12-15 minutes or until the skin is soft and it can be stabbed easily with a fork. Let it cool off a bit, then scoop it out of the skin. We do all of our squash this way, and sometimes pumpkin too. We're never organized enough to wait 45 minutes to eat!

The produce manager at Wegmans told me to take a knife and poke slices on the lines where it will be cut in half. Cook it on high in the microwave for at least 5 minutes. Take it out and carefully cut it in half. She said the microwaving will soften it up enough to make it easier to cut in half. The proceed to roast in oven.

I roast--salt, pepper, coconut oil baking spray. Cut off stem end, slice in half top to bottom, I scoop seeds before roasting. Spray, salt, pepper and place cut side down on foil on baking sheet. I cook for 40-60 minutes @400 depending on size, stick it with a paring knife at 40 minutes-if it goes in easy it's done!
