What if they DID clean it up before the pictures were taken??? Everything looks like it's been pushed to the edges of the rooms!

What fascinates me is the list of homes recently sold nearby. They are all so cheap! One sold for $500???

Imagine how excited they are today with all the views on their listing from us!
On a bad day my house doesn't even come close to that disaster!

I don't think there was a single clear surface in the whole house!

Oh my word!!! Couldn't they have put just a tiny bit of effort into getting it ready to list?

Holy smoke! I almost missed the kid in one pic. I had to go back and look for the kid. Why is it so cheap? And are there really no cupboards at all...is that normal for a USA house? I live in a teeny tiny cottage in the UK and we have zero storage space. That house looks like a reasonable size though.

I have my home for sale.I looked at my area's home listings and was appalled to see so many messy homes. My thought is maybe they are renters and they do not want to move. So they don't clean up hoping it will deter buyers. I do think they must live this way though and that is sad. I had all the advice from the peas in my head as I readied my home. It sold very quickly. Thanks refugeepeas !

It screams "rental property" or at lease that is my hope.

Cute house though. I'd totally buy that for 130K, if it were somewhere else . We rent, and have always kept our homes relatively clean and company-ready. I don't think renting vs. owning makes a difference when it comes to the way people keep their homes, it depends on the people themselves, and some people just don't "see" the mess around them. I've watched enough hoarding shows to have learned that.

Being messy is a pretty common trick to try and deter buyers when your landlord wants to sell and you don't want to move. There are people who think it will take longer to sell and they can "punish" the property owner by making it harder.

I'm guessing also that that is a rental. The fixtures and things are definitely nicer than the decidedly low-scale furniture. Probably someone showed up for pictures, the tenants didn't give a shit, and someone shoved everything off to the side for the photos.

I've been looking online at homes for sell in my area for a long time and honestly 95% of the homes listed here look this messy. I'm shocked people put the pics up like that.

I had to look thru those twice to find the kid in the pic, kinda like Where's Waldo? Also, why in the world is there a plugged-in electrical cord wrapped around the towel bar in the bathroom? Holy potential fire hazard! And of course, I'm wondering what did it look like before if this is the "cleaned up listing version" of the place? Those photos really emphasize the lack of storage and usable space, especially if you're hanging red tutus up on the living room curtain rod.

I want to know why there's a cord wrapped around the towel rack in the bathroom. I'm intrigued.

I assumed this was to avoid young kids pulling on the cord? But it's a super weird place for an outlet.

I'm still puzzling over that.
And the fact that they have a framed print hanging UNDER the wall mounted oven. For real.

My house is actually messier than that at the moment *blush* Me too, Sue! You know, I bet most people have had some pretty rough times where the house goes to hell. I just can't see taking pictures of it and listing it! My house is on the market right now and the slightest things out of place I feel nervous about and it's pretty immaculate. But I really want to sell this house, and fast, and I hadn't considered the tenantlandlord situation.

I have been looking for houses near me for sale to compare, and for houses for purchase in another state and haven't seen anything like this. My sister and I were talking about what a pain it is to keep it "white glove" inspection ready for potential buyers and she sent me that link today. If more looked that way I would feel like my house is going to sell for a pretty penny! LOL. Alas, not so much the case here.

When I was house hunting I was shocked at how many places looked like this. Made it hard to envision myself in that house when it looked like that. I found that even if I liked the floor plan, I would not typically even bother taking a look at it in person.
