It last sold in 2005 for $5,000??? Some one is making a killing! But they bought it for nearly $34,000 just a few months before, if I'm reading the tax record correctly. I bet it's haunted, by a messy ghost .

What if they DID clean it up before the pictures were taken??? Everything looks like it's been pushed to the edges of the rooms! I think you are right. It's pushed back and the beds are "made". I wonder of the agent just gave up with it all and took pics. It's not like there is much you can do with that. No camera angle is going to help.

I'm still puzzling over that. And the fact that they have a framed print hanging UNDER the wall mounted oven. For real. My guess is that framed print is hiding damage.

Definitely messy but not the worst that I've seen. When we were house hunting we saw a condo where all the shades were drawn so it was very dark inside and there were matresses everywhere. Every room including the kitchen had a matress or 2 on the floor. It was obvious that they were used for sleeping. I have no idea how many people lived there. The place was a disaster. Even now I don't think I could have over looked the state of it if I was looking to buy. At the time we were first-time buyers and there was no way we were going to take a chance on that place.
We also went to another townhome. I opened the door and the smell of cigarette smoke just poured out of the house. I didn't even step inside. We left immediately without even looking at it.
Our budget was around 350k.

When my mom died unexpectedly, we had to sell the house as is. I did go clear out all the stuff (and there was tons of stuff). To give you an idea, my mom loved sales and Christmas mugs were 90% off. I am not overexagerating there were 100 mugs in the walk in closet. The house was also filled with tons of plastic storage bins with random things in it. Even then though we tried to clean out as much as we could. Luckily people were flipping houses a lot during that time so we still came out ahead.

I remember when my parents sold our house when I was about 10ish. That place was immaculate. I swear my mother could hear us leaving a fingerprint behind. So yeah, it always surprises me when I see messy house listing photos, although these are the worst I have seen online so far.

When my sil and bil were moving back home I went house hunting with them. We went into one house were the family was just finishing up eating Chinese food. There were containers all over the kitchen table and countertops. The remainder of the house looked like the house you linked. I had a feeling the family either didn't want the house to sell (forclosure?) or they were just tired of keeping it clean because it had been on the market for quite a while. Either way, it was really hard to imagine living in the house when it was so messy.

I bet it is a rental and the renters don't want it to be sold.

Holy smoke! I almost missed the kid in one pic. I had to go back and look for the kid. Why is it so cheap? And are there really no cupboards at all...is that normal for a USA house?
I live in a teeny tiny cottage in the UK and we have zero storage space. That house looks like a reasonable size though. This one was built in 1875 so normal for that era and not updated to add closets. I just flashed back to a house we looked at years ago that had similar decor. Even our realtor was shocked to see the dude walk out of the shower during the showing.

As an agent, I see interior photos like this all the time. Sigh.

Wow! When we were house hunting, one house we looked at had a trail of underwear from the bathroom (inside the master bedroom) to the bed! We had a good laugh over that!

Wow! When we were house hunting, one house we looked at had a trail of underwear from the bathroom (inside the master bedroom) to the bed! We had a good laugh over that! I looked at a house for sale that had dirty underwear laying on the bedroom floor too! I alerted the realtor that was showing me the house, thinking perhaps a pet had dragged them out. She got a funny look on her face and said, "They don't have any pets." We all laughed at that one. I'll bet the homeowner was mortified to learn she had left those there, right in the middle of the floor. The house was very fancy and otherwise very tidy. But...some people just live like pigs. I've seen a lot of this kind of ICK during my five year house hunting journey. In really nice houses sometimes too!

I'd be interested in knowing what the appliances are trying to "convey". I can't even figure out what that should have said. Maybe "all appliances stay"?

I'm always looking at homes online and that's honestly the first time I've ever seen it used. good to know.

I bet it's haunted, by a messy ghost . usually that means the other sale was the sheriff's auction, where the bank/lender "buys" it back and it is officially foreclosed. then the next sale is when the lender sells it off to another owner.

This is further proving out my theory that some people wake up one morning and say "I'm going to list my house for sale today" and immediately take photos and get a listing up. When we were house hunting we saw many messy photos like this online, but usually they were FSBO.

What fascinates me is the list of homes recently sold nearby. They are all so cheap! One sold for $500??? It says it last sold in 2005 for only $5,000

My sister and I play a game in which we pick a random city and then compete to find the messiest interior, ugliest artwork, and or most people or animals in photos. We have yet to not find utter disasters in less than 5 minutes in any city. And note that part of the rule is starting at the highest end of the price point we choose for that city (which is the average sale price for thAt city). So yes, it's apparently quite common for people to live in messes and have no problem putting evidence of that out there.

You know, I bet most people have had some pretty rough times where the house goes to hell. I just can't see taking pictures of it and listing it! [ Ain't that the truth! I've been pretty immobile from the after effects of radiotherapy and my two oldest are really busy with work. This last weekend I have finally started to feel a bit better - but I have to pace myself in case I irritate the whole thing again . Hopefully I can get things straight over the next couple of weeks though ! And as you said- I wouldn't take a photo of my mess and use it on the listing if I was selling!

There was a house I looked at online that we called the clutter house. Had a ton of stuff on the floors, but ceilings were something to behold. I remember one wall covered in decorative plates from floor to ceiling.
I kept looking at the site and debating whether to see it because we were short on time buying a house and the price was in our range and was close to the school my son was going to. There was no white space in the home and it just made me feel claustrophobic looking at the pictures.
So one day I drove past. As I was trying to find it I realized this was quite a nice neighborhood and above our price range. When I finally found the house the garage door was open. It was filled from floor to ceiling with stuff.
I finally turned against it completely at that point because I realized there was no way we would be able to really check out the condition of the house and having just stopped the buying of a house we had made an offer on because it would need a $40-60,000 roof replacement we weren't going to take that chance.

Before we built the house we live in now, we looked high and low at homes for sale. We saw one that would make that one look like a surgical suite. The first thing was the smell when you opened the door. They had pets, lots of pets and they were there to greet us when we came in. It was really dark because all the windows were blocked by furniture along the walls and the carpets were filthy. It was just unbelievable how nasty that house was and it was in a really nice neighborhood. I still get the heebie jeebies when I think about it
