Does anyone own the newest Cutterpillar Pro? Or any of them? I've been contemplating getting it for a while now. My only hesitation is that it doesn't have a paper guard to hold the paper down while cutting. It seems like the paper would move around. Do you think it affect the cutting?
I really want to try it but for $130 I'd like to hear honest opinions first!

I have been using one since CHA at the store. It cuts very well even without that paper guard. You just use your hand to hold down the paper. It just doesn't have the guard.

I have had one since they first started too and love it. I didn't like the paper guard on the MM one I had previously and actually took it off, so I obviously don't mind not having the guard. I love the light on it and how accurate it is. I have a genesis trimmer at work (without the light) and they have the same cutting mechanism. I think it is a great trimmer. They had a kickstarter for a portable version that should be out in the fall. They used to have sales for the big one, maybe keep an eye out as it is such a big expense. I love mine though, and certainly spent more than 130 on trimmers prior to having this one.

I keep hemming and hawing over purchasing this trimmer because of the price. But yes, I would guess I have spent MORE than $130 by now!!! I loved my big honking MM trimmer, but it just hasn't been cutting right lately. I bought the Fiskars Sure cut that so many people use, and had to have the wire replaced. I cut a lot of photo paper now since I do most printing at home and wonder if that dulls a blade faster.

But I don't mind investing a lot for a scrapbooking staple such as a cutter. I would think that your blades do dull quicker because of the photo cropping. I use a CM photo trimmer with a guillotine blade that I love. I've had it over 10 years and still cuts as perfect and crisp as day one!

I like mine for the most part. But for some reason, I can't always cut a straight line. I put my paper up against that bar at the top and the cut edge still comes out crooked. You can fold it in half and see where it's off by an eighth at least. I think what's happening is my paper is sliding underneath the bar at the far end. And if I need to cut something that's smaller than an inch in width so I can't rest it along the guide bar, I get out an old cutter. Without even the bar, I'm pretty much screwed.
But it's easy to use and this could be operator error, too. DH thinks I'm not holding the paper still enough when I cut.
