I know this is scrapbook related but this board gets more traffic. My cousin is graduating from college in December. I want to do something special for her. I have the scrapbook supplies I need so that's free. I just need to print off pictures from her
Also is this a gift a new college grad would even lime? fb. How do I do that? Do I have to go in manually and save each picture? I just reconnected with my dad's side.of the family a few years ago but she and I have become really good friends. I only have 3 cousins and only one I grew up with.

Yes - I do think she would like this as a gift.
Facebook photos - yes, you can either save each photo or ask her to email them to you for printing. If you are on a Mac you can just drag the photo onto your desktop.

you probably can right click on the photo and print. Try it once and see. Don't try to blow FB photos to a larger size as they have a maximum size for photos so they may not be as sharp as the original.

When i want FB photos i use mu desktop and click on the photo so that it is large and then click options. I believe there is a download option. Yes you have to go one by one.

I seem to have the best luck with a screen shot capture. Sometimes downloading the photo results in poor quality, but my computer screen creates better resolution on a bad photo. I snag tons of pictures of my kids this way, especially when they are tagged in their friends pictures that I wouldn't have access to otherwise. Once I've captured the photo onto my desktop, I either drag it into iPhoto for editing or upload it directly to Costco photo.

I'm fairly certain that Walgreens has an option to print photos directly from Facebook--even friends' photos.

Thanks everyone! For some reason the post didn't come out right. I am posting from my phone. Do you think this is a gift a college grad would even want? I want to do something special but like I said don't have much money. If I do this all I will have to pay for is the pictures and postage. I have all th rest of the supplies. With the pictures I can shop around around for sales to print them.

I think it's like anything, know your recipient. Some people would love it, some would say thank you and love it more 10-20 years down the road when they are old enough to be nostaglic, and some people just aren't into scrapbooks at all.
That said - I think it's a lovely gift and provided that it's given with no strings attached (no expectations about her reaction or where to display it etc...) then go for it.
I would suggest a smaller size than 12x12 though - new grads tend to live in small places and move frequently...12x12 albums are big and hard to store.

I print my fb steals 2x3. Most are too low resolution and quality to make a nice print. Not trying to discourage you, better than nothing is how I feel. Will she like? Hard to say. And I agree with the pea who said not 12x12. I would make it as small as possible.

I've done this for my dd. In fact, it has become something I've done for her almost every June, before she left for the summer. Best results by far as wallet sized, 2x3, as mentioned above. She hangs them on her wall. Afterwards, she puts them in a Smash Book.. which reminds me that has not been done with this past summer's photos. The Smash Books are great because they take no time to do and still look good. I printed 2 photos on a 4x6 and cut them myself. I do have my own printer and was able to set up the ability to print them that way in Picasa. I also agree with the suggestion to not use a 12x12 scrapbook. I'd use a size that is much easier to fit on a normal shelf. I would think she would appreciate it. One of dd's friends gave her a little scrapbook of just photos of the 2 of them over the years, all from social media. Dd loved it! Dd is 18, so in that age range. Obviously, your mileage may vary.

I think that is a great gift for a college graduation!
My daughter went to her friend's high school graduation party, and his parents made a scrapbook of his high school soccer/activities and a "movie" to show at the party of his school years. All the boys on his team spend so much time looking at the scrapbook and now they want their parents to make them a scrapbook.

A Kodak picture maker machine will let you print photos directly from FB, from your albums and from friends.

Thanks everyone! For size I am thinking 8 by 8. Hopefully I can get it done and it will get the depression under control. For the rest of the family for Christmas I want to do an scrapbook of all their travels throughout the years.
They are all going through a huge transition. My cousin has a serious boyfriend and may be moving out of state. My other cousin just graduated from high school and will be attending a tech school. He doesn't post on fb at all so I don't know him well. But his sister posts a lot and we have become close. It's crazy to think it took 36 years for them to be a part of my life but I am so grateful they are. I love and treasure the little bit of family I now have. The only other family I have is a cousin that I grew up with and love dearly. But he has a family of his own and work that is demanding.

Tread lightly....
My kids were beyond horrified when their grandma took pictures from their Facebook and scrapped them. They were nice pictures with their friends - but they were NOT happy....
I would get the go-ahead before proceeding with this. She might love it -she might be very bothered by it. Hard to say for sure.

I think it's a very nice gift idea, and love the idea of doing it in 8x8" size, so that it travels easily and fits on a normal bookshelf easily.
I'm pretty sure Snapfish has the ability to take pics directly from Facebook to put in your cart & print.
