Does this mean people really will be reading it for the articles?

This made me laugh " The Playboy website has already been given a makeover and made safe to read at work, resulting in younger readers and an increase in web traffic." I guess it is the articles that draw people in tincin .

Does this mean people really will be reading it for the articles? That was my first thought when I saw the article earlier, too. Well, maybe my second. My first thought was "Wait, is this The Onion or something?", but I checked, and nope, it was the Times.

I love Playboy. The articles, interviews, lessons, short story fiction. It's all great. Granted, it leans left, just like me. I've always wanted a text only version, so it looks like I almost got my wish (so I could read on public transport). Won't it be just like Maxim? I'm sure they will still do scantily clad?

internet has made it not necessary. I didn't realise naked photos were ever necessary, internet or not. Although I think what they really mean is that people no longer BUY their magazine for the naked women since they can find free images elsewhere and they are trying to boost sales of a product that is obsolete

Seems like they were having a hard time finding women for their magazines lately and this just seems like a push to get more readers at an earlier age. Will be interesting if this works for them. So many magazines are just dying out since most people don't bother subscribing anymore or prefer to do it online. I find many of my magazines seem to be getting thinner and thinner with the occasional special issue thrown in. Just makes me wonder how much longer any magazine will survive. I know newspapers have already been hit pretty hard.
ETA - So obviously if you have issues hang on to them, they are bound to be collector items.

Yes, I think they used the phrase provocatively posed or something like that, but yes, there will still be sexy pics of women, they just will be covered up to some extent.

Is there any point to it if there are no centrefolds?

So, it's going to be the Victoria's Secret catalog with articles?

Wow this is a shock. Maybe subscriptions are down and Hugh wants to retire the magazine when he dies so he's phasing it out first with this.
