My pride and joy, as featured in my avatar, is Turriff Dark Shadow Humps-You-While-You-Sleep. We mostly call him Tufty, but he answers to Tufty and Turriff. He's an F2 Labradoodle. The current hamster is called Pumpkin Forcefield. Our last rabbits were Cassandra and Pandora (DD is into classical mythology). They were known as Cassie and Dora.

Currently two dogs: Mollie and Penny DH named Penny simply so he can :::knock, knock, knock, Penny::: ala Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory In the past I've had pets named: Alex Abbie Willow Missy Candy Zoie Nikki Tisha Cinnamon Mandy Emilie Tommy I also keep having a dream that we get a black lab named Ruby. We have no intention of adding another furry family member unless one magically appears. Each day when I drive up the drive I brace myself for finding a black lab on my porch

Dog named Dribbler. After the basketball move, not his bladder. But, of course, that's not always folks' first assumption.

I've only ever owned one animal (dog) and her name was Lucy. She was a Yorkie and omgosh she was a sassy little bitch! I mean that in the sweetest way though lol! She knew she ruled the roost. When I would take her to get groomed the people there would always tell me "she has more sass than any pup I've ever had in here" I just loved her so much!
I hope one day to get another dog❤️

Currently we have: 2 Westies: Princess Grace, Belle of the Ball----we call her Gracie MaGregor Macgillicuddy---we call him MaGregor or Gregor, or Greggy 2 Collies: Lady Beatrice---most of the time we call her Bea or BB. She is a tricolor collie we rescued. She is a former kennel dog that is mostly blind and has canine epilepsy. Sir Raphael Valentino---we call him Ralph or Ralphie. He is a sweet sable collie that I named him after my favorite Ninja turtle and we got him on Valentine's Day. 2 Corgis Augustus Cruiser---called Gus or Gus Gus, sometimes Gussie. He is a rescue dog that was called Cruiser. He is a sweet sable corgi that was given up when his owner passed away. Theodore Roosevelt---called Ted or Teddy. My newest baby...a merle corgi with one blue eye and one brown eye. Named Theodore because I collect antique teddy bears. We also have 3 Calico Kitties: Muriel, Amelia(Mellie), and Adelaide(Addie). I love old fashioned names for the girls. In the past we have also had calicos named: Maxine, Millicent, Madeleine, Mary Magdalena, and Mildred. We have on male black/white Maine Coon named Stout. He came with that name when we adopted him 10 years ago. He will 18 years old soon.

Our current rescue is Finn Andrew. All four of us had names picked out, so we let him choose...when he came out to greet us after he left the adoption floor, whoever he ran to first got to pick his name. The choices were Finn (me), Andy (DH, hence the Andrew), Roman (ODS) and Duke (his name at the shelter, YDS wanted to keep it). He ran straight to me, imprinted on me like Jacob to Renesmee and we've been inseparable since :-)
My first pet in my adult life was a sweet calico I names Hobbes. DH brought to our family a Swissy mix named Tristan (yes named after Brad Pitts character in Legends of the Fall) and a pit bull rescue named after Petey from the Little Rascals. What a great team they were, they all lived well into their teens. Finn is a perfect mix of the three, a lap dog that is sweet and always happy, smart as a whip and even looks like a mix of Petey and Tristan.

We rescued a Bagle (Bassett/Beagle mix) a year ago and named him Sheldon (Big Bang Theory) as he came straight in the house and claimed "his spot" on the sofa....it's still his spot unless we need his spot. We just put his bed there to keep it tidy unless someone is visiting.

My corgi is Doris.
My cat is Virgil, but we call him Kitty. If we called, "Virgil, Virgil, Virgil," he would never know there was food and/or cat-nip infused toys to play with, and he would starve and/or be bored to death.
My yellow-naped Amazon is Cosmo. I adopted him, so I didn't name him. He was named after Kramer on "Seinfeld." Cosmo is 19 years old.
My son's sun conure is named Beryl. He named her Beryl because he thought that was the most gorgeous name ever.
We have a stray mother cat who comes to us when she needs medical attention and food. Her name is Porch Kitty.
Just today, I decided that from now on, I'm going to name pets after things from "The Hudsucker Proxy." The first name shall be, "Hudsucker." The second name shall be "Muncie." The third name shall be, "Sure Sure," and the fourth shall be, "For kids." The fifth shall be "Dock." Or, "They dock ya!" I haven't decided yet.
I may need to start breeding puppies so I can use up all my Hudsucker names before I kick the bucket.

We have a huge Chow/Golden Retriever cross ... at least that's what we think she is ... her mum was from a nearby native reserve ... Her name is Lucy aka Lucille or Lucifer Our two cats are Ella Enchanted aka Bad Kitty and Babette aka Baby ... Baby should actually be called Bad Kitty because she gets into way more trouble Years ago we were reading a book that kept saying, "Bad baby" in it. My DD, then 3, really got a kick out of it. About a week later we were taking care of my aunts dog. DD kept calling it "Bad Baby". Not because it was being bad, but because she was repeating the book. We found out, when my aunt came to get her, that "Bad Baby" was what she said when she was scolding the poor little thing. We had been wondering why she was avoiding DD because DD was very gentle and loving with her!

When I was a little girl, I had a tabby cat named "Stripey", and his jet black sister was named "Tiger" - can you tell my parents let the 4 and 5 year old name the kittens??
When I was 11, I named my little white and tan spaniel mix "Misty", after my favorite book.
I've named two dogs as an adult - my mini doxie "Heidi" and my westie "Piper"

currently have 2 dogs. The maltese foxie cross is Fluffy (aka Fluffalupagus). My great Aunty Betty had Maltese terriers for many years, and every one was called Fluffy (she was so imaginative ). So when we got this one as a tiny pup, son said she HAD to be named Fluffy for all those who'd gone before.
The big girl is a Great Dane, Irish wolfhound cross called Boo. Son name her that because his theory was that, when someone came into the yard that shouldn't be there, dog would jump out at them and scare the heck out of them - like someone jumping put and yelling "boo". But the name really suits he because she's the biggest sook around, if she wants attention she gives you the sad eyes look and cries until you pat her. So Boo is really Boo Hoo, and suits her perfectly.

We have a Pia and Duke. We got Pia because Dh wanted a swedish name. We just forgot that he has a cousin in Sweden name Pia. It's funny cause if i put stuff on facebook about our Pia it wants to tag Pia or if Pia often likes our pics etc.. it's kinda fun though. but we didn't do it on purpose. I actually wanted Penny. But we both agreed with Pia and totally fits her. Duke was Jack when we rescued him. He wasn't responding to his old name. We rescued him when he was a year and half. He's about 4 now. But Duke stuck.

"Starry-I-Love" is out current cat's name. She is 14 and was named by our then 4 year (now 18) DD after our 20 year old cat "Star" died. She thought it was the "purrfect" name. Now we mostly call her "kitty" and DD swears the cat gives her the stink eye of death if she uses the proper name. Don't think we haven't had fun teasing her like when new friends come to visit and ask "what's your cat's name?" I can hear DD now, " I WAS FOURRRRRRRRR!!!!" hee hee Dog is Toby. He was a rescue and changed names from unknown to name given at rescue to Toby by lady who gave him to us because not aware of Aussie energy. (older lady/ new knee) We figured we would not add to his confusion and stick with one of the known two. Since the first was/is my DS shortened name we opted for the last- Toby. I kind of wanted to name him ReRun as he is an Australian Shepard just like our previous "Tazzy" who passed at 16. Blue and brown eyes were on opposite sides otherwise they look very similar. DD fish is "Sushi". Autocorrect actually named him when he was new and DD wasn't going to be home to feed. I texted asking when and how much to feed "fishy" and autocorrect changed to "sushi". Ding, ding, ding! We have a name! I think that is my fave autocorrect mix up ever. << and this is "Sunshine" DD bearded dragon. The photo is from when she was making a stop action Godzilla starring "Sunzilla" video for her younger brother a few years ago. (2010 date stamp). Named for her color. and I have to admit her disposition. She is the sweetest thing. I NEVER thought I'd have and want a lizard around. needmysanity I love your Stella story. The same goes for above mentioned "Starry-I-Love". I often tease my DD that she's lucky we have no neighbors to hear us calling. "Oh, Starry-I-Love, come here girl!" lesley Turriff Dark Shadow Humps-You-While-You-Sleep <<<< is now in my top ten list of best names ever. akathy I was just saying recently how I love animals with obvious people names. Bob, Mike, Pete.... Knew I liked you!

We have a 12yo mutt named Alexandra. We call her Xandra or lazy brown dog. We know her mother was half German Shepherd, but have no idea about her father. She's sort of an orange brown, weighs about 70 lbs and has a curly tail like a Husky. She is a sweet old girl who has all of us wrapped around her paw.
Currently, we've got a little puppy staying with us until we can find his family. We haven't named him, although I've called him Buddy, Frodo, Max or hey you for the past few days.

My first pet was a Boston terrier that I named boots. I was only six years old at that time. I've had a variety of cats with some strange names like TupTim, Kinki, woody and c.c. My boxers have all had Ohio State names like Buckeye, Brutus, bramble, Griffin and Graycie. I still have Griffin and so my little puppy is named Archie .
