Does anyone know a site for helping you choose a cell phone? There used to be a camera website where you could say, "I like __ cost, _____ megapixel, _____ batteries etc. and then it would narrow cameras down to that.
I'm a little overwhelmed with all the different kinds right now.
Better to get a factory unlocked or a phone for my carrier?
What does an international version mean to me?
---------------- Edit: I really appreciate everyone responding. I should have been a little more clear though.
I'm not interested in Apple. I like Android. I will be paying for the full cost of the phone on my own. I don't need the latest and greatest, just a more than I have now. I have a Galaxy light: (4 inch screen, 5 megapixel camera, 8 GB storage).

I don't I look at some reviews and then just jump in and hope for the best.
I lime my s5, but I don't like the feel of the s6 so I won't upgrade until the s7 comes out.

I'm an APPLE girl all the way so it's never much of a question. That said I still have the 4S. I would like to upgrade but we just had to upgrade DD's phone because she dropped it one too many times! She got the 64 GB 6 (not the new 6S). She still had the original 4 though so it had lasted her quite awhile. With DH out of work at the moment though I don't see an upgrade coming my way anytime soon. My phone still works fine, although I have not done the latest update because I'm afraid of what it might do. LOL.
That's not much help to you..sorry! Find something that you like the feel of and that seems pretty user friendly. That's the best I can offer. Oh --- don't look at the ones you can't afford because they will become the ones you want!

I'm an Apple girl too and just upgraded from a 4 to a 6. I got it through AT&T Next plan and only had to pay the taxes on it. My bill didn't change at all.

You answered a question I was wondering about this afternoon. I've heard lots of people talking about Verizon and T-mobile, Cricket and others, but only commercialism about AT&T and Sprint. I was just wondering if I knew anyone on either of those plans.

I am an android girl also. I tend to keep my phones for a long time so I've found getting the best that is out there is better for me in the long run. The camera is super important to me so that is where I start after carrier. We are with Verizon through DH'S work so no switching. Plus they have the best service for our area.

Well, if I wanted to make a phone call So I have Verizon. You really need to check around you and the places you go to see what services work best in your region. As for phones, I have a Motorola Droid Mini and I'm thinking of upgrading to the Droid Turbo. But my sister loved her Samsung Galaxy S6. When I bought my Mini, I did a lot of research online, reading reviews and whatnot and then I went to the store, several times, and played with the models I was looking at. I like to feel a phone in my hand and scroll through the apps and features to see if they're easy to navigate.

I'm an android girl. I have a Galaxy S4 that I really like. When I bought mine I did a lot a research reading message boards and reviews. I think I drove DH crazy with all my research. I had it narrowed down to S4, HTC One, or the Motorola Droid Maxx. Then I went to the Verizon store and picked up and played with their display phones. I also called DH from the phones and asked them how it sounds. (some phones have horrible microphones.) The phones were all very similar and for whatever reason (maybe the hipster dude commercials) I picked the S4.

That's a great suggestion! It never even occurred to me that those phones were hooked up so you could make a test call! I just took pictures when I was playing with the model phones to see how they looked

I'm also an Android user and recently upgraded to the Motorola Turbo - love it!

I would have never thought you could call out but I was at a corporate store (not a 3rd party store) and I just picked one up and was playing with it and dialed my home land-line and DH answered. So then I connected to a news page on the internet to see the page loading speed. The sales people didn't seem to care.

I have an LG G3 and I think this phone is absolutely awesome! They recently came out with the G4 which has a better camera than the G3, and has been compared to iPhone, and on most of the comparisons, it was determined the G4 had the better camera including more megapixels. They recently advertised the newest phone the LG V10 which should be released next month I believe. It is a bit bigger than the G3 & 4, around the same size as the iPhone 6 plus. I think you should check these phones out as I think they're great phones that are right up there with the popular ones, and a bit cheaper.
ETA: The G3 & G4 both have 5.5" screens. The G4 has an 16mp rear camera and an 8mp front camera with manual mode. The G3 has an 13mp rear camera and 2.1 front camera and no manual mode.

I like the idea of calling from the store. Never thought of that. I did go tonight and hold a lot of them in my hands.

My only problem has been that most are refurbished instead of new since the s5 and s6 are now out. I don't have a problem with used so much, but having had problems with phones before I get worried about only having a 90 day warranty or just a month or none at all. So far I have found one for $210 used with 90 day warranty or one for $323 for a year warranty new. Ugh.
