I would like to replace the tub area in my bathroom. Since selling my house in AZ, I have missed the hot tub there in ways I can't explain. I have researched it and have come to the conclusion the in my new life a hot tub would be way mor work and cost than I can handle right now but replacing my tub with a whirlpool type might be the better option
To do so in my current bathroom will take a bit of work due to the way the owners did the current tub. I also want to replace the vanity with one I already have. And I might want to do the tile while I'm at it. It's cracked in several places and if I'm ripping out a tub and vanity it's the best time to do it. I think I can do the floor with minimal effort. I think the vanity replacement shouldn't be too tough but will require a plumber to cap off the other sink for now. The tub replacement is the biggie
I'm not even sure where to start. Anyone do something similar and willing to share their tips and ideas?

I don't have ideas but how are you enjoying the new house?
Having clicked on more than one home reno thread here, I'm sure you're going to get some responses.

I haven't been able to move yet :-). Work keeps getting in the way. I have a five day stretch now without work so hoping to get it all knocked out. I was able to put some paint on walls though :-). I'm really excited to move for once. Everytime my upstairs neighbor starts walking I get more twitchy to move :-)

It's nice to be able to paint before moving. I bet you can't wait!
My advice is to ask around for a recommendation for an interior designer. They should be a member of ASID and a member of AKBD(National Kitchen and Bath Association). You should be able to get a free consult and pay a fee for specific help. It will save you money in the long run, avoiding making a decision you aren't happy with. Also, that person should have contractors they use regularly to help you with the tub. You'll need tile work, too.
Have fun!

My husband did ours, except the plumber came and connected the vanity as well as installing the shower pan. My husband did the tile work, painting and flooring. It is a small bathroom--about 7 ft. square. No tub, just a shower.

We were actually removing a whirlpool tub and replacing it with a walk in shower. We used a contractor we had used previously. Not an official designer, or plumber, but more than a handyman. His guys did lots of tile work for our neighbors and we were pleased with the results.

My plan is to get a two person spa tub. Not a hot tub but a regular tub. Build a frame for it and put it outside.
And we replaced right down to the studs bathroom. It takes much long to do it yourself than it is worth. Find a contractor.
