DD is going to Italy on a school trip. If she has her Rx Adderall in the proper labeled original container (just enough for the duration of the trip) will she have any problems?
Googling seems to indicate it won't be s problem, but was wondering if anyone's traveled recently and might know first hand.

I took two prescriptions to France in 97. They weren't a controlled drug though.
I take scheduled drugs, and everything I've read said that as long as they are in the original bottles they're ok. A letter from your doctor stating that you're prescribed this drug is recommended.
Since Adderal can be abused, a letter might not be a bad idea.
Nobody even knew I had my prescriptions. Other than going through xray machines, nobody checked.

I've never had any prescriptions checked, but just to be on the safe side have her doctor provide a letter.

Keep it in the marked bottle and you shouldn't have a problem.

I just know all of the signs in the airpot say to have it in the dispensed bottle. Would an adult have to hold it for her if she is under 18?

Whenever my kids travel on a school trip, the school nurse collects all medication. It is held and dispensed throughout the trip by a school rep/chaperone. Everything has to be documented. Have you checked with the school to see if they do something similar?

I take minor students on trips abroad frequently and have never had anyone stopped to have his/her medication checked. I recommend having her keep the RX in its original container in her carry-on bag or purse as well as a hard copy of the prescription. Both of those documents together would prevent her from having any sort of questions asked. I would recommend also that you let the chaperones know what medication she has with her; there are usually forms that you'll fill out indicating this info. Hope that helps!

Please take about 5 more days worth of medication with you whenever you travel. They have been incidences in the past that required the travel be extended due to weather or other matters.
Saves hassles and possible medical costs to get a few more pills.
I hope that they have fun on the trip!
Edited to add: Try to get the pills in blister packaging, that way you can see how many pills there were originally and how many are left. No loss of pills/medications.

Yes, send more than she'll need. I learned that the hard way. I take two controlled meds and travel quite a bit. I have never, ever been questioned about my meds and I sometimes just toss them all in a ziplock with no label at all and carry them in my purse.

I doubt she will have any trouble; we've been to France and Dubai in the last year and it was a complete non-issue both places. I was slightly paranoid about Dubai (many trip site posts about drugs they consider illegal and jail, etc.) so I got a doctor's note for my dd's prescription (it was on the illegal or banned list ; can't remember which), but no one seemed to care at all. I'd guess that Italy is more relaxed that Dubai and she'll be fine. But, if can't hurt to have her take a copy of her prescription. (And I agree about sending a few extra pills)
