My basement is half finished and half unfinished. I replaced the carpet on the finished side when I moved in a year and a half ago, and after finishing my master's, another teaching endorsement, and a year adjusting to a new grade level, I finally have the time and energy to devote to making the space a crafting/office area! I am planning to get laminate countertop at Lowe's and use it across filing cabinets to create a long workspace. I have a large wall unit for storage and an old kitchen table that will stay down there.
There is beadboard halfway up the wall that I will paint bright white and I'm thinking about colors for the top half. Don't want anything too dark - trying to keep it as "warm" as possible. Any suggestions for a favorite beige or light blue/gray/green?
Would love to hear what you love about your craft space, or what you would include in a dream space... Or, what you wish you would never have done!

I think you're on the right track for color. In my old space the walls were a color called 'pear flesh' (think of the inside of a pear) or something similar, not sure of the exact name. It was a warm cream color with just a speck of a light beige in it. I loved it, and it was perfect with everything. My current room is a neutral olive green, on the light side, and it bothers me to have so much color in my room.
I'm still setting up my room, and the biggest issue I'm having is with technology. Having outlets in the right place, have printer, silhouette and sewing machine, etc in a place they can stay set up. It's a challenge. I wish I had put in extension cords behind my big desk. It's too much to move and I can't get to the outlet. The other challenge is good lighting.
Good luck with the space!

I have a room that probably won't get re-done for another 2 years. But I have an electrician coming in next month. I am planning on having a larger light or maybe several canned lights and more outlets put around. It is a very dark navy now (previous owners), so a very dark room. I was planning an off-white-ish color so that when I hang my layouts to view after finishing they wouldn't clash with the background. If I didn't hang my layouts I'd just go with whatever color made me happy.
Sounds like your space will be wonderful!

Do you do a lot of painting and messy work? If so, consider your flooring needs carefully. Maybe even leave the unfinished area unfinished? Congrats on your space!

I just had my entire LR, DR, kitchen, and entry painted gray and I love it. Gray would be so pretty with white. We used Sherwin Williams "mindful gray".

I had beadboard around the bottom half of my basement studio space too, it was dark brown. Not that I dislike brown, but for a room in the basement with only two windows for natural light--umm, no. The top part of the walls was already white, so I repainted that with my preferred white (Benjamin Moore Atrium White) and painted the bottom a very light bisque/tan color (Benjamin Moore Soft Satin) and I love it. It's light enough to brighten it up down there but different enough from the white to give some contrast. With the white part of the walls closer to the overhead lights, I think the walls help reflect more of the light into the room.
