I like my Chichen Itza with a side of Machu Picchu.

Yes. because that area of Mexico is one that I research 19 years ago for our honeymoon-we chose Jamaica instead.

Yep, been there. Our bus broke down on the way there, in the middle of nowhere, in 100+ degree heat. Took an hour to get fixed! Very memorable trip in many ways. Cancun is where my husband proposed to me

OK, so I finally googled and I recognize the photos, but did not recognize it by name...

That is odd. I heard about it years and years before I vacationed in Cancun.

Yes, because it was a storyline on Days of Our Lives in the 90's.

Yes, my late DH and I toured it when we went to Cancun.

We've been there! We went the first time we went to Cancun. It was a must visit place for DH.

Yes, but I haven't been there. We never stay in Cancun and the places we do stay are further away. Instead, we go to Tulum. One day I will make it there.

I have thanks to TV. I highly recommend Karl Pilkington's "An Idiot Abroad" if you'd like to see a hilarious take on travel shows. It's produced by Ricky Gervais and they send Karl, a famously grumpy traveler, all around the world. My two very favorites are Karl in Mexico and in China. There was more than one series.

I didn't recognize it by name, but if you had said "it's the ruins near Cancun" I would have known what you were talking about

I know what and where it is. My sister did a report on it several years ago in a geography class. ETA: Chichen itza looks pretty cool and it would be pretty cool to see it someday.

I got that it sounded Mexican (and thought it said chicken on the first read). I am not well travelled or a wishful traveller though so, no, I didn't know what/where it was.
