Anyone else debating using your stash vs buying a kit? I have a decent size Christmas stash and one DD kit from 2 years ago that has quite a bit left. I am thinking about using my stash and purchasing some Pink Paislee Yuletide. However I am tempted by Ali's main kit. I like Ali's style and really like that kit. I don't know...I am thinking I will at least wait until Ali's albums are in stock as I only want to pay one shipping fee - if they are super late then I guess that may decide for me....

I ended up with two mini kits - and then sold off about 1/2 of each that I wouldnt use. I will be supplementing that with things I have in my stash. I had some DD stuff from last year left over.

I have the new Christmas line from Simple Stories that I was thinking of using or my humongous stash of OA Christmas product. So no kit for me. If I even get around to doing the album lol

I don't do DD, but am hoping to do a mini with our traditions and event stuff. We just don't do holiday things every day in December. I purchased some of Shimelle's Christmas Magic line but will supplement too.

I don't do DD either, but I want to do a photo a day with some of the activities I do with DS through the season. And then turn it into either a big two pager (or multiples, depending) or a mini book. I haven't decided yet! But I do intend to pull a kit together for these with my Christmas stash, which is kind of bursting at the seams! We are also going to do Elf on the Shelf on the shelf this year, and I want to have a photo of his antics every day and turn that into a layout as well. But I think there's some serious value in working from a kit or a set grouping of supplies for these kinds of projects. It's certainly time saving! Do you have enough to work from? Do you tend to premake your entire album ahead of time and then add the photos as you go? I also think it helps if you LOVE your kit, so if you think you'll be itching to work on the project if you go the stash + a few new pieces, go for it! Or if a kit you can follow along with/scrap lift inspires you, do that! (Also, if you decide to play along with our refupeas crop, my challenge might help you get started... hint, hint!)

I think part of my problem is a lot of my stash and ALL of my Christmas stuff is in Storage. We move into our new house at the beginning of November so hoping to hold off until I can look in my stash and see what I can pull together. I don't normally pre-make my pages but am going to try this year because I have also not completed a DD album! I also plan to keep it simple. My goal this year is to just complete it. I will check out your challenge!

I am having the same debate. I love the convenience of having a coordinated set of supplies ready to go. I could probably pull together items from my stash, but I know it would be more time consuming. Right now, I am browsing the new collections to see if anything "inspires" me.

I just do a Christmas album, not a true December daily, but I decided to do a kit this year. Last year I mixed a Basic Grey line and a Theresa Collins line and some basic embellishment to make my own kit.

mine will be a bit of both. i bought a mini kit and for the rest i will use my stash. i think i am going to keep mine super simple this year with very minimal embellishment. i have already made some journaling cards with just an embossed edge as well as some with a felt snowflake stitched on. i think i may let the photos do most of the work this year.

I've kinda put together my own kit. I've included an alpha from my stash but everything else is either Pink Paislee Yuletide or Shimelle's Christmas Magic plus a Heidi Swapp Oh What Fun alpha pack I bought. I haven't been scrapbooking all that long so I don't have much of a stash anyway. I haven't even figured out if I'll be doing a DD, continue scrapping as I have been, or do something else!

This will be the first year I attempt to do a DD project. I think all I need is a 6x8 album and some page protectors. I have a BH Project Life mini kit that I will use.

I keep eyeing Ali's kit, but I am trying to be good and just use my stash. I love Christmas, so I have lots of holiday goodies already.

I always use my stash. I lust after many of the kits but being in the southern hemisphere I always think I'll struggle to use a lot of the kit contents that seem geared towards wintery activities. I pretty much cleaned out my Christmas stash last year so this year I get to go shopping!

I went ahead and bought the Simple Stories Claus & Co binder and some Yuletide- not a whole lot but enough to supplement my stash. I have an older DD year that is in a Snap binder but is a little full and not completely finished so thought I could use it for that if I do end up getting Ali's kit. I am going to wait until the binders come in and then decide on Ali's kit. If they come in too late then I will just go with my stash (and may anyways!)

I have the new Christmas line from Simple Stories that I was thinking of using or my humongous stash of OA Christmas product. So no kit for me. If I even get around to doing the album lol I bet you could easily do a cohesive DD with different OA lines. I think all but one Christmas line has similar colors palettes. Would love to see your finished product.

I think there's some serious value in working from a kit or a set grouping of supplies for these kinds of projects. It's certainly time saving! I agree. Last year was the first time I did anything like DD. I did my own version, which was more like Thanksgiving to New Year's Day. I didn't do it daily, just by event. I didn't use a kit, but pulled together paper & embellishments that matched my tree (it was the first year that I did a color-coordinated tree - teal & silver - and not a mashup of whatever was around) I already had a 8x8" teal album. I bought one (and only one!) 6x6" paper pad in the blues/teals/silvers that matched. I used white, kraft, and black cardstock to mat photos and make embellishments & journal blocks. I bought 3 Christmas stamps from the Michael's $1.50 bin, and used them tol hold together the theme throughout the album. I used silver, glitter clear, & teal Stickles. And I gathered other silver, black, & teal odds and ends of embellishments. Enamel dots. Baker's twine. Etc. I put the whole album together the first week of January, after printing all my "holiday" photos. I think what helped me was that I kept it simple. I stuck with one color theme. I had limited options. And honestly, it is one of my favorite albums because: 1. It's actually complete. 2. It is totally color coordinated and looks very pleasing. I doubt I will make another DD this year. I will probably wait until I change the color scheme of the tree. And then use my original approach. Also, wanted to add as an afterthought, one good thing about making my own "kit" of limited choices was that I did not have a bunch of leftovers to have to hold on to and deal with. Since I spent so little, I feel no obligation to use up the little bit of paper that was left. There were no enamel dots left. Baker's twine takes up little space and can be used another day. Stickles are one of my basic stash items. And the three stamps were so inexpensive that I am okay with just holding on to them until I find a use for them (like making cards in the future).

I bought Ali's main kit & Ashley Goldberg's mini and absolutely love them! So I know I'll enjoy the project. I don't think I would be quite as excited if I tried to pull from my stash. First - I purge often so there really isn't a lot to pull from. Second - I don't want my albums to look similar from year to year. Limiting myself to one kit would have been the sensible way to go, but I couldn't resist adding AG's mini.

This is timely: I am planning to work on my 2014 DD album today! I *always* work on my DD album the November after. This helps me get pumped for the coming Christmas. I never have time to do my DD while it's happening, and am sick of Christmas by January So, I pulled out my stash: I have 2 VERY FULL pizza boxes of paper! I think I'd better use my stash. But I was so overwhelmed looking at my selection this morning that I didn't know where to start! I'm going to make myself a smaller "kit" to work from: White/kraft backgrounds, some favourite pp and embellies and maybe only 3 alphas (I spend too much time looking for the perfect alpha if I don't limit myself). I have a small box of pre-cut Christmas 3x4 cards and cut apart sheet tags etc...that I cannot find. I spent 30 minutes searching for them, which leads me to think I need to overhaul my scrap space. That itself looks like a month-long job! I came up to take a break and talk myself OUT of starting a re-org!!!

Still debating. I should use my stash, which is what I have mostly done the last 3 years. But I love that Ashley G mini-kit. So I may have to scoop that up and mix it with my kit. This is my favorite album to do every year!

My LSS is having a class using Bo Bunny's new Christmas line. I can finish a DD in four hours. I am excited to go to a class.
