I p a per scrap. It's the tactile, creative part for me, and also a little about my proficiency with computers too.....

I am mostly paper and some digital. I love my papers and inks and tools. I also love the layers of paper scrapping.

I morphed over into digi scrapping after creating hybrid stuff for my kids' parties. I still have a room full of paper supplies though, I don't have it in my heart to get rid of it all (I did clear some out). I was looking to buy new physical Christmas supplies for cards and I can't believe how entitled I have become expecting to get everything I want at the click of a button rather than having to either go to the store to buy it or wait for the postman to deliver it! I love the ease of digital scrapbooking. I would NEVER have believed I would pass over paper for pixels though. If you had asked me 5 years ago if I would ever switch, I would have said never! I am a little mad at myself for not giving it a try sooner and saving money, time, etc. And yes, I'm getting used to being able to easily find anything I want in minutes, love it. I'm digital only. Most of my IRL friends have made the switch to digital as well. The last scrapbook retreat I went to we were all digital! I wish there was a digital only board here. There was when we first started out. People digiscrap at retreats? That is the one thing I really miss about paper scrapping is the crops. I'm going to have to see if I can find something like that, I miss talking to people. I only have one friend irl that scrapbooks, and she has recently switched to digital too. People absolutely digiscrap at crops and retreats! All you need is a laptop! Wifi is nice too so you can buy something if you need it but I have so much in my stash I'm okay with our without wifi. When I first started going to retreats, I was the only digiscrapper. They all had their piles and piles of scrap supplies and I just rolled in with my little laptop and EHD. My group now goes on retreats twice a year. I look forward to them and get so much scrapping done, along with a lot of good food, good movies and laughter!

I like the end product of paper scrapping, but would like storing the books from digital. I see the value in both, but am paper all the way.

I'm a paper scrapper. Several years ago I tried digi scrapping and just couldn't get the hang of it. After a couple of hours of trying I was annoyed at the thought that I could have had a few layouts done by then and gave up. When I see Cathy Z's layouts it makes me want to try hybrid scrapping. I like the simplicity and clean lines.
mrsshampoo mentioned people scrapping on their phone??? I'd be all over that if I could figure it out. Any app suggestions, anyone?

Becky Higgins has a project life app. One of my friends uses it to scrap her cell phone pics and loves it. I have downloaded it but not used it yet. My friend says it is easy to use, and you can send it off to print straight from your phone. You can also upload digi scrap supplies you have purchased elsewhere through drop box.

I've always been a paper scrapper, but I do feel the pull of digital scrapping calling me. I want to do a digital book for a family trip we took this summer, and then maybe start doing 2016 digitally. I don't know where to start though with the digital scrapping. Did everyone here take a course or just learn on your own from YouTube? I know Jessica Sprague has on-line courses. Has anyone taken one?

I've never taken a class, but self taught myself traditional photoshop at work. Classes might be a good idea for a newbie, but I would say if computer stuff comes easy to you, you probably won't need it. If I can't figure something out I just search for a video.

Did everyone here take a course or just learn on your own from YouTube? I know Jessica Sprague has on-line courses. Has anyone taken one? I haven't taken any of her beginners scrapping classes but I have done a couple of project based classes. I really like her teaching style. She explains things at a pace that I can follow along and doesn't assume you already know your way around PS or PSE. I think they'd make a great start.
I learnt through the free course by Sande Krieger at 2Peas. I never actually finished it but I took the first few months and it was enough to teach me the basics. The biggest thing for me from this class was learning to create a page from nothing instead of relying on templates (even though I now usually use a template as a starting point).
I think it depends on how you learn. If you prefer a structured introduction that ticks of a certain set of skills then a class is definitely the way to go. If you're already familiar with your program (which I wasn't at all) then you could probably figure it out/find resources online/ask questions here.

I tried digital - didn't like it. I love working with paper and cardstock, the feel of it, and actually creating the page and the embellishments etc. But I can see where digi is great for others who may not have the time do make traditional layouts, or are short on space. There is a place for both.

IMHO it's a personal preference. While I exclusively paper scrap, I have friends that are paper, digital, & hybrid scrappers. Glad the industry offers something for everyone. Happy scrapping, everyone!

The rest of them had their laptops, a big monitor and everything. It was neat. I'm a paper scrapbooker - i don't even edit my pictures on a computer. I'll edit them on my phone and then print but I don't use photoshop or anything.

I scrap for the crafty aspect not the memory keeping. That's just a side benefit. Digital isn't going to fuel my crafty side.
