Does anyone just do the online books like shutterfly? Is that considered digital scrapping? If not, what do we call it? Do we like them?

This is what my DDIL does, and hers are so well done that I am seriously thinking of doing some of my scrapping this way. Will I still do some traditional scrapping? Yes, but I also want to scan or photograph my pages so they can be shared with my kids. Or maybe I will redo them digitally. I don't know at this point, but I definitely want to start doing a photobook or two to see how I like it.

My sil only does this and she says its not scrapbooking. *But* I totally disagree. To me putting words + pictures is scrapbooking. She's keeping memories and in my book that qualifies.

I was just looking over at the shutterfly books because I have a coupon code from a Joan's order for a free 8x8 book. I was thinking of helping my DD make a book for her boyfriend as a Christmas present. Are they easy to do? I've never put together a digital book before.
I also noticed some cool recipe book templates -- I have my Grandma's original recipe box with all her index cards in her handwriting. Wouldn't that make a cool gift to pass on to my family?

Maryannscraps: I think they are very easy but I have done a lot of them and there is a learning curve. The only advice I would give you is to give yourself plenty of time and plan not to try to do it all in one setting.
They offer a lot of coupons. I get free ones all the time...have to pay about $7 postage is all. I never order one without a very good coupon and I get them frequently. Like them on facebook and you will see a lot of offers. Lately, they have offered so much free stuff, I have had trouble keeping up with them!

I do consider it digital scrapping and I have done a few. I like them a lot, probably more than my actual scrapbooks.
When my mom and I went to Germany I did a book like that for her and the same trip filled TWO 12x12 albums for my photos. Her book is easy to just pick up and look at and she loves it.
I did a small softside one for my nephew and my mom of our trip to Vegas, and again, I traditionally scrapped my own photos.

I've done this - made photo books for travel companions and done traditional paper albums for myself. I agree that the size and convenience of those smaller albums makes them so much easier to look at than my bulky unwieldy albums.

I consider it scrapbooking as well.
My husband prefers them to my large albums.

That is a big reason I'm converting my traditional pages to digital. Not only because I want to have a backup and be able to make extra copies, but the big 12x12 books are so unwieldy and take up a lot of room. I know I will be majorly downsizing in less than 5 years and I'm preparing ahead. I'm about a quarter of the way through and I can't wait to finish so I can order the printed books.
