I bought one of these at CK and just opened it. It doesn't work - is there a trick to getting it started. Thanks,

There is - you have to remove the black ring. Unscrew the brush, take the black ring off, screw the brush back on and squeeze the pen gently on the sides - I believe it even says squeeze or something. When you see the glitter start to fill into the brush area, you're ready to go.

Thanks, Streetscrapper. I thought my pen was dried out, I'll try this.

FYI- it is totally addicting after just one use... You will want to put it on everything! And this coming from a self proclaimed glitter hater! But a clear wink of stella brush tip is easily in my top 5 most favorite scrapping supplies!

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.

I had this exact same problem on Saturday at a crop. I went to a shop at the crop that was selling them to read the package.

Tagging on to your thread, OP, to ask those in the know if my clear wink pen has expired- I am a bit of a hoarder, I buy stuff when I see it but often open it months later. I have followed the instructions on the pack and in this thread but all that my pen seems to dispense is a clear gel which doesn't dry. It only sparkles a tiny bit but the sparkle doesn't stick . Rolling the pen around to try and mix it doesn't seem to make a difference. Any thoughts? Thanks, Peas!

By the way, when you've used it up and you think you're ready to toss the empty pen in the garbage... DON'T!! You can fill it with water and continue using it. There's not as much glitter the second time around, but it is definitely usable. This is definitely one of my most used scrappy items!! And another tip... I was trying to find a way to make my own clear Wink of Stella brush and saw a bunch of tutorials on Youtube. Nothing is quite the same, but I did buy a bottle of iridescent medium (Windsor & Newton) for less than $7 at a local art supply store. I tried mixing it with a bit of water using my Wink of Stella brush that was ready for the trash but that wasn't at all the same. Instead I fill the brush with water and simply apply the iridescent medium right out of the bottle using the brush. It's definitely not "glittery" like Wink of Stella, but it does have a shimmer to it that is quite nice. The best part is that I don't think I will ever use up the bottle and it was only $7!
