I really though that Candice's looks were stunning. I loved every one of them, including, and maybe even especially, the red. I thought they were so beautiful. I also liked Edmund's, although I agree with the one dress they didn't like so much. And I thought Kelly's looks were fun. Love her and enjoy her stuff. Like I said, Ashley's were the only looks I didn't love. Those awful zippers and ill-fitting garments didn't help. And that regular bra showing through the lace--what is she, Carrie Bradshaw? At least Carrie usually had really pretty, lacy bras showing through. As soon as I saw all the lace and pastel colors at her home visit, I thought I wasn't going to love it.
I was surprised Candice didn't take Tim home too. I can't imagine she would be embarrassed of her house (unless she didn't want viewers to see how stunning her home was--maybe concentrate more on her rough beginnings with drug addicted parents for the likability factor?). If you remember from the first episode, Candice lived in a HUGE stunning home with a pool. I always wondered how the heck she lived somewhere so grand and was still a struggling designer.

I always wondered how the heck she lived somewhere so grand and was still a struggling designer I don't remember that...was that in the first episode or in the prequel "Road to the Runway" one? I didn't watch that one, auditions always bore me. But I do remember her saying her parents were drug addicts, she moved out of home at 14 and had her daughter at 17. If she's made a go of it and lives in a big house now, that's great, it certainly sounds like she had a tough start. I think somewhere along the line she said she was married? Maybe her husband didn't want to be involved. I don't think they have to amp up the likability for a show like this, it's not viewer voted, so it doesn't really matter what we think of the various designers as the judges get the only votes anyway.

OK. I have to say I liked Candace's collection so far the best, though I thought her black hat was awful. Either do it well or don't do it at all. It look paper mache craft not professional. That said, I didn't like the placement of the red flowers on her printed trousers....looked too much like a feminine accident.
I will give Ashley a pass on fit in the mini show. You aren't going to fit a garment to a model who may not be wearing it in the actual runway show. I don't think Ashley knows how to tailor a fit from all her other workroom efforts but for this mini show she shouldn't have.

If you remember from the first episode, Candice lived in a HUGE stunning home with a pool. I always wondered how the heck she lived somewhere so grand and was still a struggling designer. I remember that home video of Candice's. She said "Welcome to Silicon Valley," which seemed an odd choice for the way she looked. I remember wondering if it was an apartment or townhouse complex. The pool seemed so huge in relation to the inside rooms. But maybe that's a thing there. Maybe the show decided to concentrate on San Francisco since that's where her storefront studio is. That traffic would be problematic.

Yes, I believe it was Road to the Runway where they showed Candice at home and it was beautiful. I agree that it's not viewer votes so the likability isn't as much as an issue, but I still think it's something that people think about. If you're likable, if you have a hard knock story (like Candice), you get a lot more positive reactions from fans. It's just the way it is. More positive reactions from fans means better exposure, more chances to be featured on future shows, etc. I don't think it's the most important thing, but I still think it's something that the designers probably think about. Her huge beautiful home isn't a negative for me though--I agree that it's pretty impressive that she had the life she did and was able to be so put together and successful, wherever the success came from. But I'll be honest, when I see people living in tiny cramped spaces, barely making it, if I already like them and their designs, it's one more reason for me to root for their success. I'm not even saying Candice deliberately didn't bring them back to her house (who knows, maybe she no longer lives there), but it was a theory I was throwing out because I did find it strange that she has such a huge beautiful place and she wouldn't take Tim there. Actually I was surprised she even had studio space with the house she has, especially with kids--she could work on her stuff while they're in bed or otherwise occupied.

Ah, Amelia, maybe you're right. Maybe the openness and the pool made me think the house was huge, when in reality, it's a townhouse and doesn't have space for a studio.

Well, whatever she lives in, housing prices in Silicon Valley are notoriously high. And I agree with you that the down-on-his-luck contestant makes for a sympathetic narrative. Remember the guy who was basically living and working in a walk-in closet? He'd stop sewing for the night and pull down a mattress that juuuust fit in the remaining space?

Ashley was a total disappointment.
Edmond would get my vote. I like that he uses wild fabrics and I'm all about a ruffle. I liked his blue dress, especially.
Candace would be second place, in my book. I like her big bold collection and I think her work was way better than the judges gave her credit for. I didn't like the pant she showed with the jacket--the red florals on the inner thigh was unfortunate placement.
This seasons has been rather lackluster...but Heidi seemed more encouraging and engaging than usual on the episode.

This is meant to be couture, and Candace has been meticulous on pattern placement. Really odd.

the red florals on the inner thigh was unfortunate placement. Ack, I actually didn't notice that so had to go back and look, you're absolutely right, that isn't good.
...and Sandy Olsson (from Grease) called and she wants her disco pants back.
I'd forgotten that Candace did lycra leggings too, seriously this is "fashion week" and they makes some of the simplest pants possible? I don't get it. If I thought this was my big shot at being discovered as a designer, I'd be making perfectly tailored clothes, not half a collection of stretch fabrics.

I still am laughing at poor Tim on the beach with Candice in his (most likely) 3000 dollar suit and expensive shoes. Did he not know he was meeting them at the beach ahead of time? Poor guy. He looked SO uncomfortable in that clip.
Maybe the daughter was Percusis? (SP) I wasn't paying full attention at that point. I thought I heard Pernicus though.
I also didn't like Candice's one day look. She all but said she copied it from her last winning look from the final runway. I thought it was a total cop out. It was so simple.
Loved Edmond's one day dress though. It was so pretty. I really hope he wins.

yeah, I kept thinking I wonder if it is meant to be Perseus. Maybe it's a family name?

Thanks for clearing that up! It's still a name you don't hear very often, at least in my neck of the woods.

It doesn't look as if the floral pants or the dress-in-a-day made it all the way to fashion week... The black leggings did however. allprojectrunway.blogspot.com/2015/09/collection-six-spring-2016.html

If Michael Kors was there he probably would have commented on the unfortunate placement of the red on Candice's pants. DD and I noticed it right away and cringed a little.

-Did anyone else notice how cute Candice looked in the interview shots where she's wearing grey? I think she had less makeup on...or maybe it just didn't look so stark when not against black. She looked younger. I thought the same thing! I think the biggest difference was that she didn't have the line of black bangs across her forehead; she was wearing a cap or something, and definitely less makeup, but it was a refreshing look! I only noticed that she's 27 a few weeks ago and was surprised that she's so young. Kelly's 31 maybe? and I would've switched their ages at least. I am debating whether to look at the final collections again. I looked weeks ago, and the other day I clicked on the link but opted to just review Swapnil's & Merline's. Part of me wants to remain pseudo-unspoiled, and part of me wants to go over them again. Hmm.

Perseus is at least a real name. But it's a MALE name. So I still say good grief. She's an odd one, Candace.

I just peeked at Merline's collection. About half of them had the same silhouette-- the sides cut on an arch and the front long with a straight hem. She did that on one of her earlier pieces, too. Not sure if I like it.
Absolutely LOVED Swapnil's collection! He was my favorite designer this season. I was sad when he was sent home, but I'm thrilled that he presented at Fashion Week!

The now infamous Manatee dick dress. I believe they got smaller budgets than the four finalists.
