I'm so overwhelmed to be honest. I was browsing Amazon, there are so many different bundles that I can't really figure out what is a good deal and what is not. Should I wait for black Friday? I really don't care if I save $20, but if I can get significant savings then I would be willing to wait.
Anyone able to help me out?

I bought mine at Michael's on Black Friday two years ago. I could have gotten basically the same package but with an extra mat from Amazon, for about the same price. I would have liked the extra mat. I think Amazon also included a $25 download card, while the one I got at Michael's included only a $10 download card. I would have done a little better buying through Amazon.

Since it's this close, I'd wait until BF or Cyber Monday and get if from Amazon.
ETA: I just checked my Amazon account and I bought my Portrait in Dec 2014 for $85.99 with an extra mat, blade and a $10 download card. I would've preferred to get the Cameo, but I wanted to spend less than $100.

I got mine on Amazon for $229 two years ago so it isn't the newest model. I would look at the price of the card from Silhouette and try to get some tools and at least two mats. All of the extra vinyl and other items are what raise the prices. Honestly, you need shapes, so getting a cheap $9.99 monthly plan from Silhouette is probably a good idea and then the cost of the gift card to Silhouette isn't as important. I am still using my first blade.

Thanks for all the feedback, I think based on what 950nancy said I'm going to just grab the machine alone off Amazon for $220. Hubby is triple checking the budget to make sure we're good for the holidays, and then I'm clicking the buy button! I will ask for accessories for Christmas gifts.

If you haven't started already, create an account with Silhouette online store and snag their free shape of the week. They release a new one every Tuesday.

If you are getting a "bundle" . Don't go for one that has vinyl or sketch pens. The silhouette vinyl is not good quality. At all. Order some Oracal from other websites. It is MUCH better and far less frustrating.
The Sketch pens do work nicely, but they have so little ink in them, that they are quickly empty.
Tools, extra mats and blades, or the Designer Edition software would be a good bundle.

I figured a lot of my tools from my cricut will work fine with these mats, and I can order another mat for $10 if I feel I need it. Will I be able to get by for a bit with the basic studio software, or should I plan on purchasing the designer edition right away?

You can also use your Cricut mats. They are a different size, slightly, so I don't recommend them for Print & Cut, or something that needs exact placement.
The basic is fine. You can't open SVG files with it though. So if that is something you use a lot, you will want it. Don't pay the regular price of $49. It is easily found for $25 on Amazon or other online retailers.

Holy moly, go check out the deal on woot.com today. $179 for the cameo, $5 shipping. Or the starter bundle is $199. Pretty sure I haven't seen that price before!
