Thank you for all your well wishes! The surgical team was very nice and laughed at my la e jokes. I felt like I was in line for the Tower of Terror when in pre-op and told them, so the anesthesiologist gave me something to help with my noticeable anxiety. I don't remember much after being wheeled into the OR. This eye took 3 hours of surgery and then 4 hours in recovery. They sent me home even though I wanted to beg to stay. The nausea was awful. Throwing up and all, even though I made a point to tell everyone that I was worried about nausea. Made it back to my relatives' house and slept the rest of the day. Been sleeping on and off since and haven't recovered my appetite yet, but I could stand to lose some weight, so I'm not complaining, although my mom's cousin is a superb cook and I'd love to be able to eat it. It has been a bit rougher than I imagined. My eye is still swollen shut and I can feel where they removed bone in my socket- a deep pain when my eye moves. I'm glad that they did this eye first, because the other eye should be less extensive. It is also a blessing in disguise that I am having this done so far from home. Recovery is much slower than I thought it would be, and I never would have gotten the rest I need at home with the dog and boys. My friends have been amazing and have a schedule for bringing meals to my family, and apparently they are eating very well. They may not want me home next Saturday.

Glad to hear that it's over and you're recovering. You might want to call your doctor's office and ask them if you can have an anti-emetic to take the night before you're next surgery. They might give you something like Emend(a drug they give chemo patients the night before chemo to prevent nausea). I was given it before my gastric pacemaker was inserted and it worked beautifully. You might want to ask now so that they can check your medical history and see if you're a candidate. You don't have to suffer w/nausea. There are options. Also, if you have pain meds and need them then use them. Stay on top of the pain, rather than suffering needlessly. Rest and I wish you healing and comfort.
