I'm going to an outdoor wedding in Hemet, CA in a little less than two weeks. It will be outdoors on a horse property at 2:30 in the afternoon. The Google satellite map shows a whole lot of dirt and not much patio or lawn. The weather forecast for the Thursday before the wedding (which is on Saturday) says the high will be 65 and the low will be 40. Don't laugh, but I'm a native Southern Californian and that's sweater and jeans weather to me. (Plus a coat when the sun goes down.)
The invitation is no help. It says "Please note that both ceremony and reception will be held outside on rural horse property. Show up dressed up...or show up dressed down. Just Show Up Dressed!"
I have no idea what to wear. I can go shopping on Saturday, but I don't even know where to start. I do have boots and black suede wedge pumps, so I should be okay on footwear.
Help! Links and pictures would be appreciated.

Well I attended a New Year's Eve wedding in Canada last year - but it wasn't outside so my suggestions are useless At least it's sounds a fairly flexible dress code so I'd probably go for some fancy evening trousers (pants) with a smart jacket then you can put a warm layer under a pretty top perhaps. Good luck!

Can you find out more about the venue? Does it have paved parking and paths or will you walk in dirt? I would not wear suede pumps if I was walking in dirt.
The boots sound like an option. Do you have a nice skirt, blouse and jacket that would go with boots? Not hoedown plaid and denim. It sounds like dressy casual that takes into account dirt, mud, and hay may be what they are going for in their invite.
Good luck and have fun!

AW sucks, you mean you can't go nakked I'd wear smart trousers that will also serve as protection against bugs of the biting variety. Pretty top and a jacket or fab shawl. have fun.

I think with that as the invitation I would show up in a cute dress, tights, and boots.

I think with that as the invitation I would show up in a cute dress, tights, and boots. This and bring a sweater, poncho, wrap or jacket for the evening.

Go to White House Black Market, describe the event/location, and let the sales assoc find the perfect outfit for you. WHBM is my go to store when I need help w/an outfit.

I just went to an outdoor wedding in WV and the temps were similar. It was held in the woods and we had to go down fairly steep stone steps to get to the site. I wore a patterned dress with tights and shorty boots with a wedge heel. I brought a wrap as well. A lot of the women were similarly dressed. I wouldn't have wanted to wear heels, the wedges were perfect. A block heel would work well, too.

Boots and something.
Dress pants look odd with boots (on ladies - men can wear a suit and boots and no one bats an eye) but jeans might be too casual. Although since its at a horse farm, denim might be fine.
If it was warmer, I'd think sundress and boots, possibly with a cardigan.

If you have western wear, then that is what I would wear. I have been to two weddings in similar settings, and I was so glad I wore boots. The ground is dirt and very uneven. I wore a casual dress, but I had a leather jacket to put on when the sun went down.

The coldest I've ever been at a wedding was outdoors in October. I finally sent my husband off to fuel up the car so he could warm up! It was in the 40's at the reception too. I'd wear jeans with boots, a cute top and a scarf for the daytime, then I'd wear a jacket and maybe a bigger scarf for evening. Be prepared not to stick around for a long time unless they do a bon fire or something.

Honestly, for that weather and venue, I'd definitely go with something more casual. I have this exact outfit. For this wedding, I'd switch the blue jeans for black denim. Or maybe switch it up to more neutral/brown tones and subtler patterns.
