Who else has enjoyed some Hallowe'en treats this week? I did, and am happy I *enjoyed* them and today was happy to give them up and get back to a sugar-free diet for the rest of the week.

So far, so good. I have only had 1 piece of candy every day this week. That's good, considering I have 1/2 of a Costco bag full of chocolate starring at me.

My kiddos at school keep bringing me Tootsie Rolls. They are my weakness. Lol! I have ate one of the teeny tiny ones each day. I always give the student one to eat with me. The rest get slipped to the custodian. Lol!
Other than that I am doing well. I am trying to up my daily calories to stabilize my weight. That scares me, but I am pushing through the fear.
I want to up my weights next week when I start a second round of the Bikini Body Mommy 6 week challenge. I am currently using 8's. Trying to decide between 10 and 12. I want muscle, but not bulk. Any advice?
Also, I would love some suggestions for a balsamic glaze? Sauce? Whatever it was I had on chicken at a resteraunt.

I seem to be off the wagon and rolling around in the ditch. I've got my first 1/2 marathon this weekend. I'm in taper mode. I don't like doing nothing. I like to run. I feel sluggish. By this point, I've normally run 18km in a week and so far, I've run 4.5km. I know it all part of the plan, but I just feel blah. In terms of eating, I've had my first muffin of the year and my first serve of potatoe wedges. Not feeling particularly awesome. I'm 2 lbs up over the last three weeks. Need to get it together.

Gave up refined sugar and alcohol on November 1. Sugar detox! Gave up soda on November 2. Going to keep this up until Thanksgiving. Reading labels, counting calories and shopping at Earth Fare again. Packing lots of healthy food for work.
Went to Zumba on Sunday, hot yoga on Monday, tried 9 Round on Tuesday, joined & went back today. So sore.

I bought only one small bag of candy because we don't get many trick or treaters. On Sunday, I had four mini Almond Joys (!!!) but back on the wagon on Monday for this month's round of the 21 Day Fix.
I'm going to have to live the rest of my life as a series of fixes, apparently, if I don't want to gain weight and lose all my muscle. I have hypothyroidism and the metabolism of a snail on valium.
So it's a constant struggle, but this month marks a year since beginning the program, with over 30lbs lost and maintaining wt within 5 lbs.
Now I think I might be ready to give myself a new goal. I've been pretty content where I am, but I could lose another 10lbs and tone further. Autumn Calabrese (21 Day Fix) has a new workout coming out in a month or two that I'm excited to try.

I've been good again this week lost another 1.5lbs - I've now lost 21.5lbs in 13 weeks I'm hoping to stay motivated. Keep going everyone, it's a marathon not a sprint. Thank you ashley got posting this weekly thread, I love reading the posts. It keeps me motivated to stay on track

Backsliding a bit over Halloween and ate too much candy. Have had a cold/cough for the last two weeks and have not been able to get outside got my daily walk. I have been better diet-wise the last few days, and resumed my walking Monday, so I feel like I'm back on track. Have managed to keep off 12-14 lbs. but really would like to get rid of 5-10 more.
Keep up the good work, ladies, this is a hard time of year with too many temptations.
And Polz, I wish I could be a runner like you, but I do much better walking and enjoy it, whereas any time I've tried to transition to running, I've hated it and have slacked off on my exercise regimen. Don't let a couple of pounds get you down, you've done awesomely!

I've had a really successful week so far. I haven't been into the Hallowe'en treats. I've started exercising more and have been eating much better.

Oh boy, did I ever enjoy Halloween treats! Oddly, my weight has stayed the same. I started off my morning with a clementine and an omelette with lots of greens in it. It was so good, and made me feel virtuous. Back to it -- I need to do more stretching-type exercise, I've been feeling stiff and achy this week in the mornings. And @polz your posts and videos make me want to restart running...all up until I remember how much my knees hurt!

I have eaten like crap this week but somehow my weight was down 2 lbs this week.
I am planning to start the 5:2 diet and see how that goes. I've been part of a 5:2 Facebook group for a few years but haven't really been active in it. Lately, a lot of people are posting about their success and it is Inspiring.

I seem to be off the wagon and rolling around in the ditch. This totally cracked me up, lol. Probably not what you were going for, but it summed up my feeling exactly for the past two weeks. Thanks I hit the chocolate candy pretty hard. I didn't even bother weighing. I didn't want to do that to myself, lol. I have been exercising more and the eating is better this week. I'm still not feeling myself because of a fibro flare, but doing better.

I really want to join the healthy peas, but I'm afraid to commit, because I will have to try. Since losing my husband I have been using food to feel better. Except now after my weight gain, I don't feel better. DEFINITELY have a bad problem with sugar!

Hello healthy peas! Doing well here. I ate pizza for the first time in months on Halloween and felt icky all night long. I think I am a bit gluten intolerant, as much as it pains me to say lol. So I committed to no carbs and no sugar until turkey day. Actually my 12 yo is holding me to our Chinese food tradition the day before thanksgiving so I might indulge in some rice and noodles on that day. I am down a total of 20 pounds since school started, have had several people notice my change, and have had a couple of non-scale victories in clothing this week. So, Yay! I've been so encouraged by these threads- thank you for posting them!

Also, I would love some suggestions for a balsamic glaze? Sauce? Whatever it was I had on chicken at a resteraunt. tank- you can buy a premade balsamic glaze right by the vinegars. It's just reduced balsamic but it stinks up the house horribly to make it yourself. Bake or grill chicken then drizzle or brush on the glaze. I love the glaze over salad or roast veggies also (Brussels sprouts especially are heavenly!) also.

Week is better - running is on track for my half marathon in 2.5 weeks. Love doing early morning runs surrounded by nature and wildlife - helps with work stress!
Only ate about 5 pieces of candy - and cooking lots of good dinners at night. My downfall is wine and bread!
So overall good week so far.

Great job everyone. I've had a very stressful week. I was poked by a used needle of a diabetic girl at my school. The family finally had her tested a little over a week later and I got the news that she tested negative for HIV and hepatitis today. I have been on HIV meds for the past week just in case they didn't have her tested and I wasn't feeling so great. So glad for the good news! Anyhow, I stayed with my paleo eating. No weight loss but I'm okay with that. I started whole 30 on July 26 and have lost 29 lbs so far.

I'm back on the "healthy wagon" this week after four weeks of emotional upheaval that resulted in zero trips to the gym. But, even with the lapse, I've lost 15 pounds since late August, which is a step in the right direction. If it weren't for the bag of Chicago mix popcorn in my kitchen, I'm sure the number would be even higher. Happy to be back!

This has just been a really tough week. I've got GERD and over the last couple of months, I've had almost daily issues with acid burning in my stomach and up my throat. I want to cry every afternoon because no medication is helping and I'm eating "stuff" that I think will help my stomach feel better. It never does, but it doesn't stop me from trying. I emailed my doctor and she put in an new Rx for me, so hopefully this will help. I've definitely been into the Halloween candy this week and it's now heading to the trash. I obviously cannot be trusted around it, so I have to get rid of it. The kids certainly don't need anymore of it, so out it goes. So...that's the "bad news". The "better" news is that my dress pants I wore to work last year are looser then they used to be. My shirts are feeling roomier as well. I go see my dietitian and behavioral health lady today so I'm going to see what I need to tweak. My stress is definitely a contributing factor to my weight loss and I haven't been sleeping great lately. Still working on strategies to get back to sleep when I wake up at 2 and can't fall back asleep. I haven't kept track of the actual weight, because stepping on the scale freaks me out...I do my monthly dietitian check and I'm ok...for some reason, having someone else weigh me doesn't stress me out quite as much. Yes, I'm weird. So proud of all your successes! Keep up the great work! You ALL inspire me!

RefuPeas are awesome! I have been doing really well this week. I've had 2 weight lifting and 2 cardio sessions this week and will hit the gym for more weights later this morning. I also recalculated my macros and have been hitting (or eating below) every day. I keep telling myself that I am going to be very dedicated until thanksgiving, and then feel free to eat whatever doesn't run away from me!

For some of us it may be visible transformation but that doesn't have to be your focus. I started lifting weights to feel stronger and lose weight. I haven't hit my goal in that regard, but my motivation has changed somewhat. Lifting is so good for my stress level that I'm convinced it's kept me from committing assault.

I haven't hit my goal in that regard, but my motivation has changed somewhat. Lifting is so good for my stress level that I'm convinced it's kept me from committing assault. I lost quite a bit of weight a few years through diet and lots and lots of exercise. I tracked food through MyFitnessPal, and wore a Fitbit. I loved through the Fitbit site that I could actually see the tipping point of calories in and calories out and where I needed to be to lose weight. Lately, I don't have the energy to put that much focus into this endeavor, and I'm mad, mad, mad at myself for having to take weight back off when I already did it! Right now, I think I'd like to just get my food choices under control. I think the right fuel vs. what I have been choosing will make me feel better, and then hopefully, the rest will come. I haven't done cardio in forever, and my best exercise is just walking my dogs.

I'm sure you are processing lots of emotions and stressors. I'm an emotional eater and I can see how the grieving process would be a near-impossible time to me to eat healthy. I had a fear of commitment too. I don't want to post the positives because I will need to post the negatives too. I need accountability though. Welcome to the group! Jo

Okay, so I was really worried about Halloween. Normally we have a huge party with lots of appetizers, pizza and apple cider. We decided to have a healthy dinner instead. At the end of the night my husband and I each took a Ziploc baggie and chose about 8 pieces of candy. Then we divide the leftover candy for our grown children and told them to make it disappear from our sight. I have lost 28.4 pounds in 73 days. I am very overweight so this is a drop in the bucket but I am proud of my commitment. My husband is down 35 pounds in the same time period. And, today I put on jeans I haven't worn in over 5 years. So today is a fabulous day. Keep up the good work, ladies! You inspire me!!! Jo

Ran my first 1/2 Marathon yesterday. My official time was 3:10:37, my Strava elapsed time was 3:07:18 and my Strava moving time was 2:55:50. So, new goal: Do this again next year and do it in a kick ass time. I really wanted to do it sub three hours.
