Do you find that you are able to scrapbook certain events, people, etc easier than others?
I found this out about myself this morning. I realized that I am able to get Halloween photos done within a week of Halloween. I am never behind on Halloween photos. The same is true for school photos. Birthday's are scraped right away as well. But then there are other events, photos etc that I am always behind on. My travel photos, And I can never do Christmas justice.
I am a theme scrapper, and will not apologize for that, but I think that may be why certain events come so easily. There are always so many good Halloween lines, and you can mix them together quite easily. School photos are pretty much just mat and embellish with the colors of the clothing. Birthday's as well, lots of ways to scrap Birthday's even if you don't have a specific line. Even though there are wonderful Christmas lines, and travel ones too, often they don't fit the vision I have and I feel I need to wait until that perfect line comes out (which may never happen).
I would love to hear from you has to what you find hard to scrap, and what you find easy to scrap and why. It may give me some ideas where I feel overwhelmed and push those photos aside.

I like to theme scrap, too, but I don't shop much. I use complementary colors if I don't have the right theme or don't want to shop. I'm not big on embellishments either.
But I'm one of the crazies who is always caught up, too, so I really have no advice for you. At least you don't have my #1 problem which is running out of pics!

I sometimes struggle with my grandson's hockey photos. He lives and breathes hockey, so I am scrapping a separate album for hockey. I have plenty of supplies, just running out of different ways to use them! I did just print some pages from Pinterest to scraplift.
I have not scrapped anything about DH's cancer journey. Actually, this is what I thought of when I saw your thread - emotionally difficult to scrap! I have been thinking about doing some pages, because it's a huge part of our life.

I'm not a huge holiday scrapper. I might do one or two Christmas layouts, and I haven't done a Halloween layout for years. It might be because we're empty nesters, and there's not much going on for us old folks! However, we just got back from visiting two of our grandchildren over Halloween weekend, and we took them out trick or treating, so there might be a layout coming. I'm in no hurry! Since I don't use any product on my layouts (I'm digi), I never think about how easy or hard a layout is to do based on PP or product lines. I just scrap what I want to based on the event, memory, or photos. I guess the hardest thing for me to scrap is random photos. I take so many pictures, I tend to put my random photos on Instagram and Facebook, so I don't find any need to scrap just one photo or two. I might scrap a single photo for a heritage layout if that's all I have, but I love to put lots of photos on my layouts, so the challenge is always to come up with a fresh design or way to scrap my many photos without repeating myself too much. I post a lot of layouts here in the gallery, and you can also see my blog where I post pretty much everything I do: My Blog

I have a hard time scrapping vacation pics, mostly because there are usually so many photos to sift through and edit and I hate editing. The worst part is, of the 100% of photos from one trip that I would want to actually scrap (after weeding out the duplicates, closed eyes, blurry ones) there will be about 10% that are perfect, just need to resize, and 90% that would benefit from at least a little tweaking. I have tried to just print them they way they are and roll with it like we used to have to do before digital, and then I'll get to the point of putting that substandard photo on an otherwise great page and I just.cant.do.it! I have to fix it and reprint it. Ugh. Perfectionism stinks!

I struggle with important photos - Annabelle's first communion photos are sitting printed and ready to scrap and have been for ages. I can scrap a funny photo or a snapshot, no problem but if it's something BIG, then I feel the pressure to do the perfect pages and ...

If you struggle with perfection, get more copies. Do it over as many times as you like. But when I go back and look at my pages, I frequently am unhappy with them. Sometimes I do them over.
I hate editing, too and travel is the worst because there are so many of them. Sometimes I tell myself...Just work 15 min. Then you can take a break.

Halloween, school pics, and Easter are super simple to me. Very theme-y. Makes it easy for me.
Vacation layouts are easy because I stick with a color scheme, and it all comes together smoothly. Dare I say it is also easy because I haven't taken many vacations in my adult life (2?), so I don't have a backlog to think about, worry about, and plan.
Birthdays & Christmas are harder. They look similar every year and I have trouble making the layouts memorable.
Heritage is the hardest for me. I never feel I can do them justice. Probably because I will never have a new photo of those people to work with, and I don't want to dishonor their memory with a crappy layout.
Every day pics are when I experiment with techniques and styles.
I think sometimes layouts are hard to make because of the feeling-memory of that day. If it was a sad day, or a frustrating day, or there was an argument, it is difficult to create a layout that is all happy-happy-shiny when you didn't actually feel that way.

I am a theme scrapper so as long as I have the theme stuff to go with the photos I feel good to go. But for example I have photos from a trip to the shore with my mom and I have tons of beach related stuff but it's hard to choose what to use. So that is slightly more challenging.
Then for example I recently went to New Orleans and can't wait to scrap those because I brought back memorabilia and with the fleur de lis stuff I've collected I look forward to scrapping those pics.

Lately, everything is hard to scrap!!
I find it easier, in general, to scrap the little/day-to-day stuff, rather than events and holidays. I think the magnitude of big occasions intimidate me and I feel a lot of pressure to "get it right" and capture the whole "feel" of the holiday/event.

Another theme scrapper here. I do real well when it is vacation or a special project/gift. The everyday photos are harder for me.

Thank you everyone for your responses - IMPORTANCE - seems to be the struggle for many - I think that is why Christmas and Travel is hard for me, because those are very very important to ME! Very interesting, it may be a difference subject for each scrapper, but the struggle seems to be when the event/person carries a bit more IMPORTANCE to the scrapper than other items.
Again thank you so much.
Great Discussion.

I struggle to scrap weddings. I think it's because they need to be perfect or something (in my own mind), a gorgeous masterpiece. They have to be extra special, whatever. I have three children whose wedding pictures are still waiting to be scrapped. The oldest got married in 1999.
Holidays are usually pretty easy. I can usually scrap almost anything as long as I have paper that suits the photos (color wise), and if I have some ideas for putting it together. Weddings are the only pictures that I have trouble scrapping.

I have a hard time with theme scrapbooking. I'm much more of an everyday scrapbooker. Seriously used to dread doing Christmas photos but in the last 4 years I've been doing a December Daily and that works with my style of everyday stuff but I'm also get the Christmas photos/season done. It's a win win.

@elaynef, Your layouts are fabulous! I love how you've used the panoramic photos.
I tend to do the everyday moments more easily. Events get pushed to the side a lot. For me, I think it's because they contain more than one story, but some of the stories are not important enough for their own page. I'm learning that I like pocket pages for these, but also tend to forget about them when I first look, get overwhelmed and put the photos away. Then there's the whole mess of how many pages are too many in my album for one event. Should I start a whole new album just for said event or for similar events to be housed (like Christmas / Easter / mini vacations). If I do the separate album, how will I feel about switching lines for each event? It doesn't bother me in my regular albums to have things not match, so maybe I'm overthinking it.

I get tired of scrappin Christmas pages more than anything. Also birthday pages. I like to scrap "everyday life" type layouts.
