Despite not being in the target age demographic, & eye-rolling at the prospect of the show when it was actually on live tv...I'm pretty shocked that I started watching it to begin with,-- BUT--- ADDICTED & have been binge watching it in big hunks for the past couple of weeks. Getting near the end of Season 4 (although, due to something I read, did skip ahead just to watch the series finale episode of Season 6/Identity of Gossip Girl). Even weirder, my husband pretends to not be interested but has to pop in multiple times to get synopsis of what happened, lol. Great show, and if you would have told me in the first 3 episodes, who my favorite characters would be later, I wouldn't have believed it. CHUCK was so vile & gross those first few episodes, but both he & Blair are now favorites. Serena seemed so angelic & then turned into the most selfish, annoying character ever. Even Dan in the beginning was great but as soon as his hair started to grow from buzz he became rather "douche-y", for lack of a better word. Several characters seemed to undergo drastic personality transplants upon hairstyle change. Anyone else admit to being fans? Really it isn't too far removed from the great teen movies of the 80s/90s that I still love, so maybe that's the attraction. PS--Watched the premiere of "Chuck"'s (Ed Westwick) new show "Wicked City." Want to like it for him, but have to cover my eyes much for the same reasons I couldn't watch my "love" Mads Mikkelsen in "Hannibal." They were talking about what low #s the premiere got, but they put it up again Game 1 of the World Series. Didn't watch this week's yet.

This blogger is SPOT ON, lol. Maybe it'll get more to tune in Stop Pretending Downton Abbey is Better Than Gossip Girlexcerpt: "...Those cats over in England just took the plot lines and characters from Gossip Girl, translated them into British, and threw some landed gentry titles at them. Yet, somehow, it’s culturally astute and high-brow to watch Downton Abbey, while it’s immature and low-brow to watch Gossip Girl. Downton Abbey won a Golden Globe and an Emmy while Gossip Girl was relegated to the Teen Choice Awards.
What the hell, people? What. The. Hell.
You don’t believe me? Here are just some examples that go far beyond the constant presence of tuxedos and ball gowns in both shows..."
(list)...
"...Based upon all of that, it’s clear that the Brits have been pulling a fast one, banking on the assumption that Americans would automatically think that anything with a British accent and some vaguely royal titles is classy and dignified. Who could blame them? We did fall for Princess Fergie after all.
But I will be tricked no more! I will no longer permit anyone who enjoys Downton Abbey to look down upon Gossip Girl and its teen drama brethren with scorn.
You all are just as trashy as I am."

I love Blair and Dorota together. I heard that they are bffs in real life OMG YES, Dorota (Blair's maid/BFF) steals the show! Anyone else refer to Serena's brother Eric as Declan? I always forget the name Eric but his Revenge character name is ingrained...

DD and I both watched the entire series last summer. I didn't think I'd like it at all, but was hooked instantly!

I watched it back in the day and towards the end, just kinda stopped. I'll probably go back and watch.

I've never watched Gossip Girl, but I think it's fun to watch shoes like that. One of my favorites of all time is Veronica Mars. Not for me (age wise I mean), but I adore that show and am sad I only have 3 seasons to watch.

Ok I'm in season 3 right now and I'm getting really tired of Hilary Duff. This is probably where I quit watching last time. Please reassure me that her character is short lived! I am loving Chuck though (oh, the shame ).

I am loving Chuck though (oh, the shame ). Okay, Season 3 is the only one where much of the episodes (I think middle?) I fast Forwarded through any storylines focused on Dan (incl Hilary), Serena, & Vanessa. Hilary is on 6 episodes, I believe...much better when she is gone. Dan gets more unlikeable as series goes on

I started bingeing on this show. I love it. Do the rich kids of New York really get served alcohol like the show depicts?

I guess because I want to suspend disbelief and pretend the show is real, but when 17 year olds are knocking back martinis it makes it difficult.

I just finished Gilmore Girls and I'm going through withdrawals. I miss Rory and Lorelei...maybe Gossip Girl will fill the void. I really need to get out more BY THE WAY thanks A LOT! I turned on Gilmore Girls a few nights ago and through first episode was like "eh"...then found myself on the 4th Not near as addicting as Gossip Girl (yet) but a great show to watch when something big is coming on Gos.Girl & husband isn't home. (He swears he doesn't care what happens in the show, then I find myself having to pause every 5 mins when he IS home to answer all his questions about what is going on, since so much changes in a few episodes). 'Night! Going to snuggle in bed with a kitty & disappear into some episodes & block out the realities of the tonight's world.
