My sister passed away 10 years ago at the age of 59. Recently a friend of hers from sophomore year in high school *found* me on Facebook. We have had a joyous reunion and she has shared some pictures of my sister that I have never seen. They are beyond precious to me. She and I have been sharing memories and it is almost as if I have a piece of Karla back.

That is so awesome! It makes me a little teary with happy tears. I live away from the rest of my family. I love that I can keep up with everybody's lives with picture, etc on Facebook. We must be a really boring bunch though because we don't really have any drama. Well except that one sister in law but she's drama wherever she goes.

I can't think of any other work right now than how awesome that is. And yes, it even brought tears to my eyes thinking of how special this is for both of you

I'm so thrilled for you. That was so cool of your sister's friend.
I have gotten back in touch with a lot of friends from high school and college this way.
I was too sick to go to my 10 year high school reunion, but I'm hoping to go to our 20th next summer.
I've kept in touch with the parents of a friend of dh's and mine that died in a car accident coming home from Christmas after her first semester at college.
I'm going to get her friends from high school together after the reunion next summer to get some flowers and go visit the parents. I know they'd love that. They were members of dh and my church when we were at school, and they loved when we'd come visit with them and let them know what we were doing.
They did some ESL mission trips to China, and they sent me a care package with Chinese calligraphy supplies when they found out I was sick. Their daughter was an art student like I was.
I'll ask around on Facebook before the reunion and see if we can't find some old photos to bring her parents. Her mom told me that it really meant a lot to see classmates and know what they were doing. Kinda living vicariously.

We have about 130 graduates out of a class of 340 in a private group on Facebook. We will celebrate our 50th reunion in April. Facebook has been invaluable in the planning. I'm sure the parents will appreciate y'all visiting them.

Very cool!! And now I feel bad..... A while ago I got a friend request from one of my sister's childhood friends, but I ignored it. My sister died 29 years ago at the age of 16. Maybe I should accept the friend request, perhaps my sister's friend has some photos too.

That is wonderful!
My mum was a war bride from Aust. We made one trip back, 20 years after she got to the US. That was over 50 years ago, I was very young, 5 yo. She wrote lots of letters but FB has become a great way to stay in touch with all my cousins. One of my cousins is the family historian and has been some fantastic stories & photos.
