I am wondering about any experiences any of the Peas might have had with Junior Achievement anytime in the past. My old boss has asked me to apply for a part time position with Junior Achievement. It would be on the organizational side of it not the teaching side. I have Googled it, but was just thinking that having some other knowledge of the company would be beneficial too.

I taught for JA for a few years. It was a positive experience. The kids, in third grade, were excited when I came for the weekly classes. The curriculum fun to teach. The JA staff was great in preparing me to teach. I was a stay at home mom with lots of volunteer time at my kids grade school. ( My sons teacher loved the program so much she asked me to contact JA to do this in her classroom as JA did not have enough volunteers for all the teacher requests ) The supplies in my " teaching package" were interactive and high quality.

I am curious to see if you get many answers. I was in JA as a high school student about 30 years ago and the program is wayyyy different then it is today. I also worked for our local JA office after I graduated high school. Then I volunteered about ten years ago and did not have good experience with a teacher, so I never went back. I imagine working in the office would involve lots of planning and getting ready for the school season.

I really have no idea, but it sounded very different from my previous job and part-time is perfect. The office is 5 minutes from my house.

My husband did junior achievement in our daughters kindergarten class last year. He really liked teaching it, and seemed pretty happy with the materials provided. But our schools branch of junior achievement was a complete mess. It was unorganized and didn't seem to be well thought out or planned, which is weird because this program has been around a long time. It drove all the volunteer parents bonkers.

I was involved with JA 15 years ago with high school students. My company sponsored a school and I was one of 4 people from my company who served as advisors to help the students set up a business.

I went in today to talk the man in charge of hiring. He told me I had the job if I was interested and added 5K to the salary. It is completely out of my wheelhouse business wise, but said he needed someone who is organized and can be a strong liaison. Now that I can do. Now I just need to figure out Excel.

Outside programs can be really challenging from the school's point of view. Thankfully I am just working on managing one project and its evaluations.

I loved teaching JA at the high school level and was also impressed with the 5th grade program that my daughter attended. I liked it enough to apply to run their local program but when we connected, we both realized (JA and me) that they could not afford me. It was a perfect fit otherwise.
