I've been feeling great since switching to these new meds. I actually drove tonight for the first time in 2 years. Dh rode with me to run down the road to get food for dinner.
I've been able to eat more normally than I have in months. I've gradually increased the kinds of food I've eaten. Soft foods and then more vegetables and legumes then finally meat.
This past week I've eaten several Evol broccoli potato cups and made black eyed peas and turkey kielbalsa in the crockpot. Fibre bothers me sometimes, so I was really happy to enjoy several servings over a few days without problems.
Friday night dh brought me home some Bojangles dark meat fried chicken and seasoned fries. I have been craving potatoes like crazy!
Tonight dh wants to get Taco Hell, and I decided I wanted more fried chicken because last night's 3 piece was so delicious.
It's 5:30am, and I'm in too much pain to sleep. That chicken was SO good. I ate 3 legs and 3 thighs. I felt fine when I ate, but I should know not to eat so much at one time. It was just sooo good. I'm sure the half bag of starburst I sucked on for 5 hours had nothing to do with it, either. (where's that innocent whistling emoji...)
Guess who'll be eating Ensure shakes for the next 2 days?

Not sure why that makes you stupid. I think it makes you human. No one is perfect.
I don't know what your dietary restrictions are, but I would not feel good after all that, either.
Start again in the morning.
Hope you feel better soon.

Hope you feel better soon. Forgive yourself, I can only imagine the discipline it takes to eat restrictively and to go a little overboard when you start to feel you can handle it is so normal! Onwards and upwards.

Guess who'll be eating Ensure shakes for the next 2 days? That's practically all I live on all the time so I feel your pain. I don't think you're stupid in the slightest, if I had just one day where I could eat anything I wanted I'd make a complete pig of myself. I'm starting to get down as we get closer to that time of year where food becomes everyones focus (I'm talking Christmas!!) and it's hard to get away from it. I hope you feel better really soon.

I agree with the pp, not stupid, human. Go easy on yourself, being able to eat "real" food and be able to enjoy it has to be such a treat that it easy to see why you might overindulge.

It's very hard to live on a limited diet. You're testing the meds right now and you're learning your boundaries. No big deal, except for the pain and nausea. Perhaps try a little bit of this and see how it digests before trying a little bit of that. Hope you're feeling better soon. Don't beat yourself up. I'm sorry you're feeling pain. Take it easy today.

Been there, done that. I'm the queen of if it tastes great eat it ALL and pay for it later. But then I'm basically a hedonist in several pleasurable areas of my life.

Thanks for your encouraging words. I felt stupid because pain is the first sign of acute pancreatitis. I was afraid I'd really hurt myself.
I'm doing better and don't have pain today. I was able to sleep after I took my morning meds.
I was even able to eat a bit of chicken and potatoes tonight.
It does feel so good to be able to eat somewhat normally again. I was really happy that I could enjoy the black eyed peas without problems. Then with the chicken...
I still need to be conservative so I don't overdo it with the holidays coming up. Stress is also a factor in whether I have an acute attack.

I can understand the temptation to overindulge after such a steady diet of what you've described. I'm glad it doesn't seem to have had too much of an adverse effect!

I really must say this.
I severely dislike your thread title.
You threw caution to the wind and overdid it, but that is not being stupid. Everybody does that once in while.
I hope you are feeling better now!

Sometimes it takes a reaction like this to remind us to take care of ourselves.
Sorry about the pain, but at least you really enjoyed that chicken!!

I'm glad you're feeling better- in all areas!
(I sympathize, I managed to have too many Krackle bars one day, and too much wine a few days later during Halloween week. We humans can be foolish when it comes to food.)
