My aunt had two. The first one was great with anyone. The second one was not and made it hard on her. While a certain breed may be great, each dog is an individual just like children so they can be very different even within the breed.

I agree with what Patter said, my two have been great with people, but some are not. You must meet the individual dog. I will say, they are a intelligent but stubborn breed!

Oh stubborn is a good word for my aunt's second one. But again, that can be said about a lot of breeds. My two rough collie puppies are amazing but one is quite stubborn so I have to be more firm with him.

The only dog that has attacked me, was my neighbour's bichon. I was walking, not in any way doing anything that should have initiated an attack, and bam! it bit me in the leg. Four weeks later, I still had bitemarks and a bruise. I guess there might be nice bichons out there, but I have never met one who wasn't , at minimum, weary of people it didn't know, or downright nasty.

They are very nice (usually) but definitely not the top in the brains dept. My grandparents are on their third one, so when they go on vacation I take care of Tony, he's very sweet, but has rocks for brains.
