Pecan for me and both pumpkin and apple for DH and kids. They could go for a coconut cream pie on the side, too.

I have a confession to make. I don't particularly like pie. I wish the traditional dessert was almost anything except pie. I particularly dislike pumpkin and pecan. My husband, however, would die happy if the only food he got for the rest of his life was pumpkin pie. The crappy thing is that my birthday is around (and sometimes on) Thanksgiving, and people always think they're so clever giving me that once-a-year treat of pumpkin pie. For someone who basically hates the stuff, I sure have eaten a remarkable amount of it out of politeness. I try to look at the bright side - it leaves me more calories on Thanksgiving to put towards stuffing (the in-the-turkey stuff, which I'll go to the mat for).

We have to have an Apple Pie and some sort of pumpkin dessert. My mom is called Betty Crocker and she likes to bake so she wants to do a dessert more than just pie. I am a traditionalist and just want pie. Her desserts are good, don't get me wrong but it just isn't Thanksgiving without pie Last year we had this wonderful pumpkin pie and I had zero ability to taste (getting over a cold). I need to find hat pie this year so I get the leftovers! Mmmmmm.

lol that's a "must have" for Christmas in my house, but not Thanksgiving. For Thanksgiving it is pumpkin and apple. Sometimes the pumpkin comes in the form of a gingersnap crust cheesecake. Ooooohhhh, gingersnap crust on the pumpkin cheesecake. Why have I never thought of that? That will happen this year. Thanks!

I actually don't like pies, or many traditional Thanksgiving foods. Strange! But we are out of town for 4 days over Thanksgiving, so I don't eat much. But I make up for it the next month with all the cookies I eat!

I chose 'Other Fruit' and 'Other Cream', although I'm not sure my choices would necessarily fit into either of those categories: Lemon Meringue Pie (lemon is a fruit) Pavlova (pavs have lots of cream on top - but also fruit) I've probably ruined your poll with a non-USA response seeing that we don't have Thanksgiving.

I'm horrified - the data will be skewed Now as you're a Lemon Meringue fan - which is the only fruit pie I can stand - all is forgiven. Oh and Key Lime is okay too.

We have "Pie Day" the Wednesday of Thanksgiving week, and all the friends we have that have no plans for TDa and want to or planning on come the next for dinner, come and we make pies all day. We've had as few as 7-8 and as many as 17 pies in the past! Thank goodness for the extra fridge in the garage! At the end of TDay, everyone who made a pie takes their leftover pie home, if there's any left, after we all sample pie all day! The list is already started; pecan, blackberry, pumpkin, lemon, coconut, chocolate so far.

I make a mean and high calorie pumpkin dessert that starts with cake mix and butter as the crust. Love me some Paula Deen. I only make it once a year since it is so sweet and not good for you.

I love a good pumpkin pie and I love fruit pies. You can keep all of the rest.

My mom hates pumpkin, and all squashes for that matter, so she bakes an awesome sweet potato pie. My in-laws bring pumpkin pie, but take sweet potato pie back with them. We also have pecan pie, and an apple crisp.

Dh and his family insist on pumpkin pie. His mom makes the recipe on the side of the Libby's can. They also bake a bit of the filling in a glass dish for SIL who is celiac.
When I've hosted Thanksgiving, I make the Martha Stewart recipe with fresh ground ginger. Dh *loves* that pie and prefers it, but he also loves the pie at his mom's house that is also on the menu for Christmas.
When I bake for Thanksgiving, I also make a Kentucky Derby pie, which is pecan with good quality chocolate chunks (I get gittard when possible or Trader Joe's--which is Ghirardelli or Ghirardelli chips from the supermarket). If I can't get my hands on any Bourbon, I use extra vanilla extract. (the Bourbon vanilla beans is the name of that specific vanilla bean plant, not the type of alcohol the extract is made from) The vanilla extract adds some of that extra flavour that comes from alcohol.
There aren't many straight pecan pie recipes I like because they tend to be too sweet. That's why I like the Derby pie--the chocolate cuts the sweetness of the filling. I do like the filling, so I usually make a double recipe and bake it in a deep dish pie plate.
One of the first pies I learned to bake as a child was apple--the other was lemon meringue with a ritz cracker crust. I *love* apple pie, but I'm now allergic so I no longer make them. I used to make apple pie and turnovers with my grandmother. Her neighbors had an apple orchard that had the best tart apples--old heirloom kinds. Tart like granny smith but less grainy and had a great texture when baked. I also made pies out of the little crab apples in dh's grandmother's yard. She thought I was crazy, but the little apples made the best pie.
My absolute favourite pie is chocolate meringue, but I don't need to eat so much pie so I rarely make it.

I am weird and I do not like pumpkin pie at all. Ick. My faves are my homemade Coconut Cream and Pecan. I also have a great recipe for an unusual apple pie. It has apples, fresh cranberries, and candied ginger. I love it, but everyone else in my family doesn't so I don't make it often. I love mincemeat pie, too.

We don't do pie....I prefer other desserts that day. One of them is a frozen pumpkin dessert that I love making ever year. I also do a pecan cheesecake and usually something else.

I'm the only one in my family that does NOT like pumpkin pie. My dh thinks it is a food group. My vote goes to apple & pee-can

I'd rather skip pie and have a turkey sandwich.
