The poll on Thanksgiving musts made me think about PIE. So what's the pie that has to be part of our Thanksgiving meal. I set the poll to let you choose two as it's not Thanksgiving with out Pumpkin and Pecan. Although my husband would vote for Apple and my son would vote for Chocolate.
I love pumpkin and apple but everyone insists I bring my pecan pies to all family gatherings. Luckily someone else will bring a pumpkin or apple. I like my pecan pies too as they are not too gooey sweet.
I chose "who cares about pie". we want pie. We just don't care what kind it is. Except that if it is just our little family we won't be having pumpkin. And probably not pecan - I'm the only one who will eat it and more than a sliver is more than I should have.

Not gooey and sweet - then what's the point?
A few years back my daughter was helping me make the pecan pie and was aghast - "But Mom, we don't eat corn syrup!" We do on Thanksgiving sweetheart
Absolutely - if no one brought mincemeat to my grandma's there was hell to pay! Funny how holiday memories are. I haven't seen a mincemeat pie in 20 years. I never even tried it when I was a kid. But when I was making the poll it was the third thing to pop in my head - right after my favorites. Despite Apple being at every single Thanksgiving - being both my Dad and husband's favorite.
At our house it would largely depend on who you asked! DH would say that there must be pumpkin, hands down. Since I don't even like the smell of pumpkin pie, my choice would probably be pecan. But I usually make a pumpkin pie from scratch for DH just because I'm nice like that!
Miracles shouldn’t be Plan A
I’ve got mountains to climb and I don’t need a backpack full of rocks.
I'm not a fan of pie...so I make pumpkin cheese cake, which everyone loves! We usually have a blueberry cheesecake as well. I think I'll throw in some chocolate pie this year. Off to search pinterest!

Mincemeat is VERY hard to find in the south. It is always pecan or sweet potato. But I have to have mince and pumpkin. My mom will bring the mince pie thankfully.
We always have pecan, chocolate and pumpkin. With mounds of whip cream. Every once in a while someone will also make a cake, but the pies generally rule the day. And the day after. And the day after that.
(ETA: I don't even think I have ever even seen a mincemeat pie. I had to google the ingredients and there is no meat!! Wonder why they call it mincemeat?)

That's right mincemeat, my absolute favorite. I am the only one to eat pie in this house and I make one for Thanksgiving and for Christmas. And I eat every last little crumb.
You will never find Pumpkin pie here unless you bring your own.

Traditionally, it's been pumpkin and french silk, but then I decided if I was dropping $50 on pies, I was gonna buy one that I liked. So I took a pecan pie and a LOT of people were like "Pecan is my favorite!"
Didn't mincemeat pie start during a time when suet was used and chopped or "minced" along with raisins? I haven't tried it although I should have when I was a child. My grandmother made it every year and she was a great cook. Everything from scratch.

We had mincemeat pie at grandma's. I always liked how spicy it was. I am the only pumpkin pie eater in my family. I get the WHOLE thing! Also, for tradition sake I have to use Cool Whip. No real cream allowed. DH & DS eat pecan.
