You're likely in for more. I've missed one or two several times. I'm on my longest stretch, three months. It's been kinda nice as my PMS was becoming quite nasty.

If you don't like this thread, you will hate my contribution. I haven't missed however I did have something odd happen a few months ago so I made an appointment with my old gynecologist group (I usually just see my GP). The gynecologist answered all my questions about what to expect and he told me something interesting. He said that I should NOT just let the periods run out as I think most of my friends have done. If it gets more than 6 weeks without a period, call him and he will prescribe something to cause a period if my body has something to shed. Eventually I'll take the medicine for a missing period and truly nothing will happen. Then I'll know I'm done.
The reason for this is that if you go too long between periods, you build up too much lining and this increases the chances of uterine cancer. No one had ever told me this and so far I haven't missed and needed the medicine so we shall see.
I remember that my mother took something to force periods for a long time and she is one of the healthiest 80 somethings I've ever known.

I did... at age 42. A couple hot flashes in the month beforehand and then no period ever again. But I did experience severe migraine-like headaches soon after and had to go on hormones to control those. Also I suffered from hot flashes for the next 20 plus years. Yes... 20 plus years, no exaggeration. Thank goodness I'm finally beyond that now.
