I've skipped two periods. Hoping for no more. Has anyone just stopped without surprise periods showing up or is it wishful thinking.

Not me. Mine like to do the stop for a few month then start for a few months, repeatedly. Each time I think this might be the last and then nope. I'm 53, by the way.
My sister in law had no periods for over a year and then they started again. She was so pissed.
It's just so different for everyone.

I even made it a whole year, and then got one. But that was the last.

All my friends said they'd go 10-11 months with no periods and just when they thought they were gone for good a period would happen.

Nothing in August and September 2 days before my doctors my annual physical in October boom there it was. I'm so over that part of my life, I'm hoping it stops soon.

My cycles have just started stretching out. They were around 26 days for a long time, then 21-22 days for a year, now they are around 40 days. The annoying part is that I seem to speculate at the normal time, I just have extra long pms. I hope the longer time between is a sign that I am close to being done.

Mine stopped totally and that was it. Yippee! I had two hot flashes and that was it. Double yippee! I reckon after 40 odd years of h£ll I was due an easy time. They stopped 10 years ago so I'm pretty safe in saying there are not likely to be any surprise visits.

Mine just tapered off and then stopped. Of course that was after several years of sweating uncontrollably and being the biggest bitch on the planet.

I went on and off like this for years. I went one week shy of a year and bam, she was back (on April 1st no less, like a joke). After that last one, I was done. My last period stopped when I was 48 years old. I'm now 50. It's been 19 months. I shipped Aunt Flo overseas. I still have hot flashes all day and night.

Last year I had one in September, on my first day of vacation. Then nothing until June of this year, on my first day of vacation. Nothing since then. I guess I need to book a trip.
Eta: I'm 51.

It happens now and then, but for most, this would be wishful thinking. Generally, once you think you are done, you will be proved wrong!

I made it eleven months and then had one more and restarted the count. But that was the last one. Same thing happened to a good friend of mine.

I would love to be done, but I'm not going to hold my breath! My luck just doesn't tend to run that way!

Your experience is so similar to mine. 9 years since the last period, but I still get hot flashes. But thankfully not as bad or frequently as they were.

And it was heavy. Out of the clear blue, nothing. I went about 18 months and then had some spotting one month but then again nothing. And that was almost a year ago. So, yeah, it can happen.

Nothing in August and September 2 days before my doctors my annual physical in October boom there it was. I'm so over that part of my life, I'm hoping it stops soon. I had something similar - went about 6 months with no period and then the day before a post surgical visit, I got a period. I was super pissed because that was the visit that was supposed to release me for a lot of things, including baths and swimming and I had to put it off. That was the last one and it's been about a year and a half now. But I just know that the minute I get rid of all of my sanitary supplies, it's all going to start again. The hot flashes haven't been bad except at night and I'm on a low dose of Prozac for that. But lately I've been riding a wave of anxiety/panic attacks that I can't point to any cause for except possibly fluctuating hormones.

I'm super extra lucky--mine have gone from arriving regularly once a month to arriving regularly every two weeks I'm wishing them to just disappear suddenly one day!!

Probably wishful thinking. They are typically erratic for a while. When I started carefully keeping track, what I found was that, while my periods weren't evenly spaced out, they declined by about half each year once they started changing. The first year I had 10, the next year 6, the next year 3, and then done.

This thread is pissing me off. Me too! Mine are slowly tapering off, they're becoming further apart and very light (they've always been light but now it's like two days of barely anything) and I'm hoping that's how they'll stay til they completely stop. I am sort of waiting for it to be horrendous though!!

I hope you're on your way...but don't count on it. I went 6 months without a period and was telling my GYN that I was halfway there--she said "Not necessarily." Darn if I didn't get my period the next month.

I even made it a whole year, and then got one. But that was the last. Oh please don't say that! I have gone 13 months now and am really hoping that this is it. OP, two months is nothing, lol. I've gone for 4 month and 6 month stretches in the past. And yes each time it appeared I was extremely disappointed.
