My daughter (12) has Aspergers, OCD, General Anxiety childhood onset, and Impulse Control.
We started risperdol at age 6.5 because the anxiety and ocd were extremely bad. What a differenc that med made in her life.
She was on .25mg and then onto .5 mg. A few years later it was uped to 1mg. We also added in tenex (1mg) and gabapentin (3mg).
The risperdol comes in liquid and pill (super tiny). Gabapentin in liquid and tenex is pill. Small
On top of the meds we did PCIT, Floortime, and Play therapy. All really helped as well.
And getting a therapy dog has been a huge help as well as an appropriate sensory diet.

Also between age 9 and 10 ocd, and anxiety gets worse do to hormone changes.
She should see a specialized sensory ot for a proper sensory diet.
Has she been evaluated for Autism/Aspergers?

I took Risperdal for several years and I had great luck with it. Then the government switched to the generic and it gave me horrible side effects (worse!) and I didn't think it worked as well. Do you notice any difference with your daughter how she feels? Or is she on the brand type. Thanks!

No crazy eating, no headaches, no weight gain, etc. We just weaned her off her small morning dose as she has POTs ajd Dysautonomia and it can agrivate her tachycardia.

I appreciate you sharing your findings. I know I am not that crazy when I say it doesn't work as well and the side effects are way worse. I just want to go back to the real and get rid of the generic. I wish your daughter the very best in life. Hug her for all of us please! xo
